I enjoyed my visit. This being my first time, I really didn't know what to expect. I was impressed. I sat out in the outdoor eating area. There's an outside bar and plenty of seating. There were also games like Cornhole (beanbag toss) and ring toss, amongst others. The atmosphere, altogether, was clean, fun, and welcoming. The service, too, was great: the staff knew the menu and were friendly and quick. The food came faster than I expected. We ordered A LOT of food, including pork ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken, mac and cheese, beans, et cetera. I am here to tell you: the food is amazing. Everything is super tender. The sides, which my brother ordered, were really good - a "just like momma used to make" good. Also, the bar offers a very wide variety of beers, including many local brews from microbreweries. I gave them four stars for two reasons. One: price. I didn't order it, but our meal could've paid for almost ten people at an all-you-can-eat BBQ joint down the road. Granted, the food is far superior here, but still... it's BBQ, not dinner at Peninsula Grill. And the second reason was the sauces. I was given about five choices of sauce. The mustard-based was too heavy in mustard for my taste; kind of like someone emptied a bottle of French's yellow on your meat and ruined it. The Memphis-style was far too sweet. The Alabama mayonnaise-based, which I have had the real stuff in northeastern Alabama BBQ joints, was WAY too heavy in the mayo. The hot, red BBQ sauce was good, but maybe too hot for some people. I understand that you want to taste the ingredients of your sauces, but this seemed to go a little too far and leaned a little too close to simply putting mustard and mayonnaise on your food. There was also no North Carolina-style vinegar-based sauce. I prefer a sauce with a little sweetness and a good amount of heat, and I found myself mixing what I was given to accomplish this. Overall, it was great. This will not be my last time to eat here, as the pros outweigh the cons. And I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for BBQ in the area....
