I don't really understand why there are any good reviews at this establishment. First of all where we were seated we could view part of the kitchen it looked very cluttered. We had a table of 5. 2 of us had the Linguine with Chicken and Shrimp, that was fair to good. 1 of us (me) had the Cacciatore, it was rubbery and tasted very bland. I managed to get that down. Therefore I never complained about that dish. 2 of us had the lasagna, it was absolutely terrible. I have seen other bad reviews on the lasagna since we dined. I would not recommend it. We told the waitress about the lasagna she said she would replace it and we thought that was acceptable, but instead she went straight to management. As the manager approached our table she had "no" written all over her face before she even heard our complaint. She was rude and refused to replace the food because she said one of the orders was half eaten. This was from trying to force it down because it was too late to go anywhere else. Also others at the table had tasted it and confirmed it was indeed very bad. The meat was unidentifiable the taste even worse. That said, I asked "what about the other one, it was barely touched". She had no reply. She still didn't want to replace it. It was very obvious she never intended to replace any of the foods to begin with. At this point one of the guest at our table suggested that we just let it go because at this point the manager was making quite a scene. Our guest said that it would be best that we just write a review so others would know how this establishment handles their customers. At that point the manager said "go ahead and write a review"; she clearly did not care about unsatisfied customers. I have never dined in a restaurant where the service was this bad, EVER! We certainly will never return and would not recommend this place to anyone. It was unclear if the manager that came to our table was actually the owner. She never once stated her position. If she was the manager the owner needs to do something about her, if she was the owner..... Well, that...
Read moreWe decided to go there on Sunday May 12 for Mother's Day lunch. We arrived a little after noon after having to drive around for ten minutes to park because Capitol Market is a very busy shopping center. My husband had arrived a few minutes before me and tried to get a table but was told that they weren't seating tables for larger parties until 2:30. He called me and I told him to just get two small tables and we would just eat separately and shop afterwards. The employee talked him out of it and said they would fit us in at 2. I really felt that it was odd that they weren't seating families on Mother's Day (or any other day for that matter). I mean, who is gonna guess that any restaurant is going to do something like that and we were only a party of 6, not very large for Mother's Day. I did reluctantly agree to 2pm and decided that we would make the most of it and shop around while we waited. At around 2:15, after we had not been called to sit, I went up and asked for an estimate and to make sure there wasn't a problem with the buzzer. The lady tells me it's probably going to be another ten minutes.......so back out I go to wait some more. Thirty minutes pass and I go once again because parties that came in at 2:10 are being seated right away. She looks at the notebook paper that they write peoples names on and tells me that we have already been scratched off and she thought that we were already seated. She say's that she will find us a seat now. I obviously declined. There would be no way I would give them my money after all the horrible circumstances of the day. I guess, maybe they did not want our business. I mean we tried to get two small tables and they talked us out of it and lied to us to get us to wait for hours and then managed to scratch us off the list but never buzzed us to let us know. Well, now they will never get my business again. I really felt that they were really...
Read moreThe service at Soho's was excellent! The staff is very friendly and the waiter's timing to stop by and check on our table was perfect.
My food review is based on a soup of the day crab bisque and the meatball sandwich. I personally didn't love the food, but I would return again to try something else.
I grew up in Maryland, so I have a certain palette expectation for crab vegetable soup versus crab bisque. The crab bisque at Soho's was a combination of the two - a very heavy tomato sauce base without much cream or butter and I did not detect Old Bay. So as much as I enjoyed the soup, it felt lacking personally in the creaminess of a bisque.
The meatball sandwich has a beautiful presentation, but I had to squish the meatballs down to even attempt to eat it as a sandwich. The meatballs really should be smaller with more of them. The meatballs themselves had a texture that was super smooth and I personally prefer a but more mouthfeel to meatballs. The sauce was excellent. The bread was crusty and delicious, but hard to enjoy because of the overly sized meatballs. The cheese was fine, but should have been melted because it did not pull apart easily.
I wish the side was not chips. The chips held too much oil in them though they were crunchy.
Again, I would return to try something else on the menu because the food was pretty good, but I wouldn't recommend this...
