American Deli — Restaurant in Charlotte

2 stars - atmosphere. It’s HOT! Need a/c or fans for customers waiting inside the establishment. Went in dry/clean. After 30min wait was drenched. Still operating as if Covid restrictions are in place (minus masks). Take out only. If side parking is full, you’ll need to navigate the “obstacle course” because Craters in parking lot will damage your vehicle. Keep your eyes open.

FOOD always GOOD & piping hot. Fries always on point. Love the lemon pepper HOT wings and the chicken Philly is decent. ZERO COMPLAINTS on the food. This is actually the BEST location in Charlotte. Food never disappoints.

3 stars for customer service - we waited over 30mins for FRIES! 3stars- because of their inability to comprehend & use logic and because they MIGHT not answer the phone. Tried calling 4x - kept getting a recording voice mail full, we arrived before they answered the phone. Young man didn’t want to allow me to purchase extra dipping sauce because they didn’t have “condiment” cups available. Keep in mind, I Did not ask for FREE ; it took an act of congress to get him to understand use a small container or a cup. I do not want the cup filled to rim or even half way, I just want sauce for dipping. Just wanted to PURCHASE the sauce and pay for the cup (IF mgmt is counting cups)🤷🏽‍♀️ ended up paying $2 for sauce and cup after 10mins of providing them with suggestions (whew exhausted).

Otherwise, food is great! Just call ahead and whatever you do - don’t ask...

I went to this establishment today 3-23-24 at 6:30. When I arrived, there were 1 person in line ordering as I entered. There is a side door where a man came in from the side. There were 4 workers, 2 ladies standing in the middle of the store talking, 1 man on the grille, & 1 man on the phone. I waited in line patiently. Finally the man in the front got his receipt & left. The man said next & as I moved forward the man who came from the side stepped in front of me & said he had a door dash pick up order. I let it go because the store was not busy. After the man from the grille gave him his order, he walked back to the grille without helping me. The man on the phone was still on the phone as if he was still taking an order. I waited patiently & finally asked was anybody going to take my order, nobody answered & looked at me crazy. My total time in this restaurant was 15 minute's & nobody helped me even after asking. I will never return to this American Deli again. Very Poor...

The cashier was doing her best and handled everything with grace. She was the one who noticed that my order was made incorrectly.

Even though I ordered online, I had to wait a while, and several people who came in after me left before me — with larger orders. I only ordered a simple cheeseburger with just ketchup, but they added mayo, mustard, lettuce, and tomato.

Instead of remaking it properly, they just wiped off the toppings and swapped the bun, which they didn’t even bother to warm like the original one. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to wait for a fresh sandwich.

I appreciate the cashier’s effort, but I won’t be returning. She was ready to quit herself.
