Burtons Bar & Grill has been on my list for a while. I have heard nothing but great things, especially about their top-notch service and attentiveness to allergies and dietary restrictions. After finally making my way over to the Park Road Shopping Center location, I can see why people speak so highly of it.
From the moment I sat down, my waitress, Sadie, made the experience even better. She was friendly, accommodating, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She took the time to answer my questions and made great recommendations, which only reinforced what I had heard about the restaurant’s excellent service.
Their menu covers all the bases with classic American appetizers, burgers, soups, salads, grain bowls, handhelds, steaks, seafood, and pastas. Whether you are craving something casual or a more elevated entrée, Burtons seems to have something for everyone. Two dishes that immediately caught my attention were the lobster roll and the jumbo lump crab cake. Sadie mentioned the crab cake has minimal filler, just enough to hold it together. With so many tempting options, I already know I will be back soon.
For this visit, I wanted something lighter and ordered the Southwest Chicken Salad, swapping the chicken for grilled shrimp. The salad was made with romaine lettuce, BBQ glaze, black beans, bacon, corn, cheddar cheese, tortilla strips, and a house-made BBQ ranch dressing. Since I am not a fan of grape tomatoes or raw red onions, I asked for them to be left out. The portion was generous, and I could not finish it all. The shrimp were perfectly grilled, the toppings were plentiful, and the romaine was fresh and crisp. If you prefer a lighter touch with dressing, I suggest asking for it on the side. There was quite a bit tossed in, which some may find overwhelming.
I also have to mention the sweet tea. It struck a nice balance, not overwhelmingly sugary like candy but sweet enough to meet Southern standards.
Burtons made a solid first impression, and I will definitely be back to explore more...
Read moreI normally don’t review places. We have been to Burton’s several times before, no issues. This time, it didn’t turn out well. My wife ALWAYS tells the waitress/waiter this exact wording: “I have a gluten allergy”. She then proceeded to order her food, I order mine gluten free as well and when it came to our daughter, the waitress asked if her order will be gluten free and we told her no. The turn around time has always been consistently quick but this time it took longer than normal. When the food comes out, we think nothing of it and proceed to eat. It wasn’t until my wife was 3/4 of the way done with her burger she noticed her burger bun was different than mine. They came out with the same pick and everything. Her bun was shiny and mine was as a normal gf bun. My wife then went to ask for the waitress to come out as we haven’t seen her and she didn’t come by to do a table check. We waited for a few and then I tasted the bun and I instantly knew it was a regular brioche bun. I asked for the MOD who came out and confirmed our fears, my wife was glutened. Her allergy is to the point she may need an EpiPen which I keep on my at all times when we go anywhere. The manager apologized and said our meal was free but the damage has been done. Right now, she just had a minor headache and I pray I don’t have to use the pen. Just be mindful of going as they really do pride themselves on kitchen safety but we as humans can make errors and tonight was one. With my wife’s anxiety, I highly doubt we will ever return to a Burtons due to a new fear the situation will occur again. It’s a shame as they have really good options for GF. Just be cautious if you have...
Read moreI had some imaging to do in the South Park area so together with my husband we decided to have lunch at this Burtons. Since it happened to fall on a Monday, we didn’t bother making a reservation and thankfully since it was Monday, we didn’t need one there was ample space to dine.
We were seated sort of in the back in a more busier part as there were more people and tables around us. I think we were seated more than 10 minutes when our server finally approached. Today was not our day, we ordered the She Crab soup that did not get delivered and when we flagged down the guy, he brought it out nearly cold. When we could finally flag him down again to tell him the soup was not hot, he did bring the soup back and when we could finally enjoy it, we noticed it had virtually no crab. I mean microscopic bits and pieces. My husband was like, look, I’m hungry I’m just going to eat it. The General Tso Bowl was tasty! The short rib sandwich that arrived had the greasiest bread. One side looked okay but the other was grossly oil. Just drenched. At that point, we asked for the manager (I felt bad for this server, he looked so worried I told him don’t worry). I’m sure he is doing his best but we conveyed our feedback to the manager. I have the mgr’s name but won’t mention it here. The fact is, we had one of the worst experience’s a person can have at a restaurant and we shouldn’t have paid a cent for this meal. We still left the server a generous tip despite the lackluster service and food experience. Ugh! I’m sticking with their Huntersville location. I hope they see this location reads this review and makes improvements or maybe we just...
