The night was a celebration for a friends birthday. He and his wife made the reservation for a party of 30 a month in advance, even spoke with an "events coordinator." When they arrived, there was nothing done for the party. We ended up shoved (literally) in a corner of the loft. When I went to ask the hostess when someone was going to come and give us plates and silverware, and clean the tables, she got major attitude and told me that it wasn't their fault. My bad, must have been our fault that the tables were never cleaned.
We had to take two chairs from a table in order to make sure everyone in our party got a table, and then we got yelled at by a second nasty hostess for taking chairs for our party.
Drinks took 45 minutes to get.
Food came out sparatically and mostly cold. Delicious though. Wish I could say different.
In the three hours I was there I got mine water glass filled only when it first arrived. And I only got a glass of water because I yelled at the waitress multiple times to please bring me a drink.
We NEVER got plates or silverware and reverted to caveman style eating with our hands. When we brought this to the mangers attention, he blew us off, and said he was doing the best he could. The manager started out awesome. But I think even he realized that the servers could not handle the party and things had gotten SO bad with it that they were well past the point of redemption. Can't say that I blame him.
I was so excited when I read the menu and thought about everyone I wanted to tell about the place, but never in my life have I experienced such poor service.
After being in the restaurant business for ten years, I understand how hectic things can get. The worst part was no one ever apologized. No one ever tried to make it right. We were completely ignored.
We will sadly not be returning to this place, and if they continue to serve large parties in this manner, they will...
Read moreThis place is amazing! The experience is always new and refreshing! You can come for a normal “sandwich and side” lunch and come back for the “tapas style” dinner and get 2 or 3 shared plates to split with a friend. The Sunday menu is the best though.. a huge brunch buffet with literally everything on it! The food items on each menu change every so often so there’s always something new to try. Same goes for their beer and hand crafted cocktails. I come about twice a month and the beer selection is different every time! It never gets old!
The patio is a prime spot to be if it’s nice out and especially if you have a dog.. the employees act genuinely thrilled when people bring their pets. Almost all the servers and bartenders are absolutely awesome, friendly and down to earth. I have only had one girl that served me who didn’t seem to enjoy her job.. but I think they fired her.
I see people complaining about the parking lot.. and as a local. let me just say, the NoDa area is HORRIBLE for parking and since Heist has the biggest parking lot, everyone parks there and then walks to their destination.. I know that they try to enforce towing but I’m sure it’s difficult to keep it under control. So if you come and the parking lot is full.. don’t leave a bad review.. just park across the street in neighborhood.. it’s less than a minute walk. If you want a really chill place with an ever changing catalog of food and beer, a place to play trivia or see local bands on certain days of the week.. Heist is the...
Read moreA friend of mine and myself decide to stop in for a "beverage" late this afternoon. We were not disappointed in any way shape or form with our decision. A laid back and relaxing atmosphere was seemingly enjoyed, bye one and all. From the exterior seating that was socially distant, to the interior of this establishment that was exceedingly deceptive in its size and the amount of socially distant seating that was available for one and all. All PPE practices are in full effect. Masks, social distancing and temperature is required for everyone. I first met Annie and then Mackenzie immediately upon entering, since a satisfactory temperature reading is required of one and all. And which Annie dutifully administered to each and everyone who entered this establishment. I found it to be a really comfortable and laid back place to be. All staff members were exceedingly kind, gracious, friendly, outgoing and personable. Whether you stop in for one of their signature cocktails, or for a full course meal, you will not be disappointed. First impressions are lasting impressions and the most memorable of all. And you could not ask for 2 better brand ambassadors than Annie and Mackenzie at the front desk. Both of you rock. Thanks ladies, it was and absolute pleasure. Looking forward to seeing you again. Let's be socially responsible people, but still get out and support our local establishments and community. If you took the time to read this review, please take a 1/2 second and click...
