Honeysuckle Gelato Optimist Hall — Restaurant in Charlotte

A little request to accommodate a food sensitivity turned into drama. Like mentioned by one or two other patrons, the customer service by the blonde girl was quite poor.

Went there today to order just a bit of ice cream. Prior to ordering, I confirmed with the other associate that a small cup consisted of two scoops. I then asked whether these two scoops could be split, mainly due to the fact that one of the flavors was dairy-free and we didn’t want the two to mix and melt into each other. The associate agreed to do so, which I was grateful for as their sign in the front stated that they accommodate customers with food sensitivities. So, I ordered a small scoop of dairy-free chocolate gelato while my husband got a little scoop of pecan ice cream. By the time we got to the cash register, the blonde girl noticed our request and started fussing. First, she insisted that we be charged double to separate the scoops. Then she was adamant about the two itty bitty round scoops that her associate served should be cut in half. She proceeded to take her absurdity to the next level by scooping out extra small scoops of ice cream just to illustrate her point! What a waste of ice cream. Our teenagers were in disbelief by her demeanor.The lack of professionalism and immaturity she displayed was beyond anything any of us had ever experienced. Not wanting to prolong the drama, we just paid the double charge to get out of there, and she sarcastically wished us a great day as we were leaving. My teens commented that they wouldn’t be surprised if she yelled at her colleague afterwards for serving us two scoops of ice cream that were half an inch too big for her liking. This place has my heart now because of the service I received.

I walked up and saw strawberry shortcake Gelato and knew that was the flavor I was getting instantly. When I ordered, I only wanted one scoop because I had other places I wanted to try. The server informed me they scooped out the last of the strawberry shortcake and put it to the side but it equaled two scoops not one, they would give me the two scoops for the price of one. Not at all what I what expecting but greatly appreciated!

The Gelato itself was delicious! The flavor what delicious and wasn't overpowering. I also tried a bite of the lavender honey and it was so refreshing!
