The menu boasts an enticing array of traditional Indian dishes, including succulent kebabs, flavorful curries, aromatic biryanis, and mouthwatering street food snacks. Every dish is a celebration of India's diverse and vibrant culinary heritage.

Flavor Explosion: At Botiwalla, flavor is king. The dishes burst with a symphony of spices, herbs, and aromatics that dance on your taste buds. The expertly blended spices and careful cooking techniques showcase the depth and complexity of Indian cuisine, ensuring an unforgettable dining experience.

Whether you're a meat lover or a vegetarian, the menu offers a plethora of options to suit every palate. The vegetarian dishes are just as flavorful and satisfying as their meat counterparts, making the restaurant a true culinary haven for all guests.

Street Food Experience: One of the highlights of Botiwalla is its street food-inspired dishes. These small plates bring the true essence of Indian street food to the table, offering an authentic and nostalgic experience for those who have traveled through India's bustling streets.

Bonjour my FOODIE GANG and let me you tell you, I LOVE ME some Indian food. From North India, with dishes such as Amritsari Chole Bhature, Kashmiri Rogan Josh, Rajasthani Dal-Bati Churma, and Dilli ki Chaat; picture and smell rich aromatic gravies, spicy vegetable stir-fries, moist and tender slow-cooked meat, and sinful desserts. To South India, where South Indian cooking being based around rice, lentils, and stews. Popular dishes such as dosa (a lentil and rice crêpe), idli (steamed lentil rice cakes), saaru/rasam (tomato, tamarind, and lentil soup), and huli/sambar (spicy lentil and vegetable stew) are all from the South.

That's just to give you a little bit of background on how DIFFERENT and the variety that India has to offer, but let's get back to Botiwalla.

The inspiration behind the menu of Botiwalla is the late night street food scene of India. They have dishes such as (i) Pav Bhaji, (ii) Vada Pav, (iii/iv) Paneer & Chicken Tikka Roll and (v) crispy masala fish roll just to name a few. Go to their Charlotte Menu on their website for further details.

When I went to Optimist Hall that day, I already indulged in a couple of other food items so I was already quite full, but had to get one of my beloved and treasured Indian delectables, PANI PURI (see attached photo of its resplendence), which is composed of:

SPDP aka Pani Puri Savory puffed flour crisp (puris) stuffed with potatoes, onions, cilantro, and crunchy chickpea noodles (sev), piped with sweet yogurt, green, and tamarind chutney. It's mindblasting!

Pani Puri works so well because it has the crunchy outer shell, puris, that provides that texture you need with the soft, warm, and tender perfectly cooked potatoes with the sweet and sour tamarind chutney, herbaceous cilantro-like water then the sweet yogurt just chills it all out. It's so pleasurable and gratifying on every single level of the palette (sweet x sour x salty x bitter x umami).

The service here was just OK due to the fact that they were EXTREMELY BUSY being that they were the 'new kids on the block' and I haven't been back to Botiwalla since. I will update on their service when I go back to try some more food which will be very soon.

All in all, I AM GOING BACK, the food was great, and the service was subpar.

Cheers MATE$!...

Vegetarian/Vegan Friends – You NEED to visit Botiwalla!

Botiwalla by Chai Pani, located in the vibrant Optimist Hall in Charlotte (just a quick hop from the airport), is an absolute gem.

Incredible food + outstanding customer service + spotless interiors + fun, spunky vibes – it’s the whole package!

When it comes to vegetarian and vegan options, Indian cuisine always delivers, and Botiwalla takes it to the next level. Their vegetarian offerings are creative, flavorful, and absolutely worth the trip.

The service was exceptional — we were greeted by friendly, patient staff who took the time to explain the menu, handled our orders seamlessly, kept the dining area clean, and even made sure our takeout was packed with care.

The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming that although we originally planned to grab a quick takeout, we couldn’t resist dining in.

Here’s what we ordered (and devoured), and we’ll 100% be back every time we visit Charlotte:

SPDP (Sev Potato Dahi Puri) – Fresh, flavorful, and addictive! (5/5) Gobi 65 – Crispy, spicy cauliflower perfection (5/5) Matchstick Okra Fries – This is pure sorcery — crunchy, salty, and impossible to stop eating (3/5 - too oily) Paneer Tikka Roll – Perfectly spiced and wrapped up beautifully (5/5) Tandoori Vegetable Roll – A veggie lover’s dream (5/5) Paneer Tikka Boti Rice Bowl – Delicious, but we wish it had just a touch more punch (4/5)

We can’t wait to go back and work our way through the rest of their vegetarian menu!

** Bonus points for the thoughtful touch in the women’s restroom, which was stocked with feminine essentials — a small detail that shows big care. Kudos to the management for their kindness and attention to detail!

If you’re a vegetarian, vegan, or just someone who loves bold, flavorful food in a fun atmosphere — Botiwalla is...

After trying and loving Chai Pani in Asheville, I was ready to try their sister restaurant here in Charlotte. Covid-19: they are currently doing takeout only. Optimist Hall is incredibly crowded right now, but Botiwalla isn't too bad. Do yourself a favor and order and pay online ahead of time. Our food was ready 10 minutes after we ordered. Pro tip: there are picnic tables outside of their back door entrance that no one knows about! We got the SPDP, Bhel Puri, Lamb Burgers, Chai, and Mango Lassi. I really wanted to get the Vada Pav and Paneer Tikka Roll since we loved them so much at Chai Pani, but we decided to try new things. Both the SPDP and Bhel Puri were amazing. I think the SPDP is what you'll see called Dahi Puri at other Indian restaurants. We get both of these dishes a lot at Indian restaurants and these were some of the best versions we've had. I really appreciate that they give you the option to order them assembled or disassembled. Most places just give them to you disassemble which is good if you're going to be traveling with them, but I prefer to get them assembled if I'm eating right away. The Lamb Burgers were good. I broke my rule always ordering vegetarian at Indian restaurants for them and I shouldn't have. I liked them, but the vegetarian dishes were much better. The Mango Lassi was delicious. Definitely make sure you order the Chai. It was amazing. It was spicy and not too sweet. It was so much different than what you get at a coffee shop. This is my favorite place at Optimist Hall and we'll definitely be back for more!
