Thanks IHOP for ruining Christmas. I spent Christmas alone this year as I’m new to the city. I thought I would at least treat myself to a nice meal and IHOP was one of the few places open.
I placed my order because the website and app said that this location was open until 2 PM. I got a call a little after 1 PM telling me that they would not make my order because they were already closed. I asked them to confirm they were closed because they were supposed to be open until 2. They confirmed they were closed. They also told me that if I wanted to get a refund, I would have to physically come back to that store the next day to speak to the manager. No other options for a refund and they acted like they expected I might just be OK with them keeping the money.
I came in the next day as instructed and spoke to the manager. While I was waiting, I noticed that the music playing was surprisingly vulgar for the environment. I’m not offended by it, but it seemed inappropriate, and I definitely think some older clientele would be. Specifically, the song playing was Khia’s My Neck, My Back (Lick It).
The manager essentially accused me of lying about why I was asking for a refund. She said that she had told the person who called me to call me to ask about items being substituted. That the restaurant was not closed, and that they had not refused to make my order. So not only did I have Christmas ruined but now I’m being called a liar.
She did give me the refund and told me that I’d see it in 24 to 48 hours. It was more like 4 to 5 days.
EDIT: I gave them a second chance and this time they stole from me. I had some pancoin in my account so I ordered a short stack. I was only given 2 of the 3 pancakes.
And the link they provided in their response to my original review, I filled it out and didn't hear back.
EDIT 2: The regional manager reached out to me by email inviting me to give them another opportunity. I replied telling him I already had and that it was also a bad experience. I can see that he read the email but he...
Read moreMy family and I were passing through town from a business trip to Dayton returning home to Toronto Canada. We are big fans of the IHOP restaurant chain. Found this location in Charlotte NC and headed out for breakfast/lunch. Upon arrival the immediate vibe we received from staff there was fantastic. They were in between shift changes and short staffed at the moment but management didn’t skip a beat to step in and accommodate us with a warm friendly welcome and seated us promptly. Even the server who was scheduled to leave stayed a few extra minutes to assist to make sure we were taken care of.
The manager on duty at the time introduced himself as Sean (or Shawn sorry if misspelled). He had a sling on one arm from a previous injury. Though he probably should not be moving too much in his condition, did not blink an eye to jump in as our server. And what a lucky experience that was for us! So very professional, funny and Knowledgeable we couldn’t have asked for better service! Given that our previous customer service at another location in Florida was disappointing, Sean made up for that 10 fold! This review is long but we needed to make sure that if ever IHOP needed to show future training staff what you would need to do to as far as good customer service goes, that this review would be that example and Sean would be the man to speak to. We may not be able to be back in Charlotte NC soon but rest assured anytime we are in the area, this IHOP location at 8146 S Tyron St. In Charlotte would be the one we would go to for Great food and phenomenal service! Thanks again Sean, until next...
Read moreLast night my husband, stepson and I went into the restaurant. No one was at the desk to greet us, and when the server did come she said that there were a hold on tables. We looked around and there was a family of maybe 6 already seated, us and another party of 2. After about 10 minutes, they seated all of us in this small space. Our food was horrible, my stepson ordered blueberry pancakes where it looked like they poured the entire container of berries on his plate, they didn’t bring syrup, we had to flag another server down for that. He also ordered sausage links that he NEVER got. I had the chicken strips and I asked for double fries, when I got my food the fries were cold and the strips were hot but over cooked. My husband ordered the jalapeño kicker and here’s the kicker when he got his food, they had the burger in Texas toast, the server says oh I’m sorry we ran out of buns. Would it not have been smart to tell the paying customer to see if maybe they would want to order something else? The burger had about 6 onions, 4 jalapeños and absolutely NO Serrano peppers and his fries were cold. I said something to the server and my husband stopped me but I said enough to where she knew that we were not pleased. She still charged us the full amount of the meals. We literally left everything on the table except for the stack of pancakes which I had asked for only 1, asking her if I was able to order a single pancake and she said yes!!! This was absolutely horrible. We sent almost $50 there just to leave and go somewhere else to eat. THIS WAS...
