This place is too good to not do a review! Stop reading the reviews and go ahead and dine in! The waitress is very kind and attentive. Business looks family owned but don't quote me on it. It is however a small location so seating is limited but the food is worth the wait! Now onto the food! We order crispy crab Rangoon for app, Kruse crab for sushi, tankotsu with chase pork and hibachi chicken for the entrées! I'm telling you the Rangoon seems home made and the crunch and filling is soo satisfying! The sushi is beyond amazing! No words can describe it! The vinegar used for the rice is so flavorful! And the sushi chef is a master! The rice was spot on, not too hard or mushy. The BEST sushi in Charlotte area in fact the best Asian bistro at average price in Charlotte area!! Now the entrées, the Ramen was soulful! The both is pure happiness. It'll put a smile on your face once you tasted it. It was so good I even forgot about the chase pork that I buried under the Ramen. The soy egg was marinated and cooked perfectly! The chase pork was good but the best part is the broth 100%. The hibachi is above average but it's still hibachi. Nothing much you can do to change it. All in all this place is clean, friendly and DELICIOUS! 10/10. 5 star restaurant forsure! This is a must try and recommend for everyone! They deserve the best as you can taste the best they can offer in their food! Don't second guess this opportunity and go on ahead and go dine in! You...
Read moreFirst time visiting Blue Orchid. My wife and I love trying highly rated sushi and Asian restaurants. Blue Orchid did not disappoint! We were greeted immediately and opted to sit at the sushi bar. Both sushi chefs greeted us and let us know they were available to answer any questions. It was a little busy with all booths taken and only a few tables available. To be honest, as we were looking over the menu, we almost left. The prices for specialty rolls were a little high. I told my wife we had to stay and at least try it. So we ordered a few standard rolls, one specialty roll, and some fried rice. Our order was taken immediately and was served fairly quick for how busy they were. From the first bite to the last bite, it was very evident that this food was very fresh and Loaded with flavor. Anyone who knows sushi, knows when it fresh! This sushi is top 3 easily on our list and the one specialty roll I order, was absolutely amazing, it was the Wasabi Creme. I ordered the spicy chicken fried rice and was blown away at the flavor of the rice. I normally like a shrimp or white sauce with my rice and this rice needed no sauce! A first for me! If you haven’t tried this place, it’s a must for any sushi and hibachi fried rice lover. We will be back to try more specialty rolls. The price as I described was a little high, however, for the quality,...
Read moreFirst off for those reading, you don't know me but I have a culinary degree and have been to japan. Today was my first visit to Blue Orchid and I can assure you I will be back. When I have Japanese for lunch I usually go with sushi and the best test of any sushi place is its sashimi. I got the sushi lunch combo #3 which is a roll and 4 pieces of chefs choice sashimi. The miso soup was pretty standard, but I like that, a quick dash of soy sauce for me and its perfect. The spicy tuna roll I got was in it self worlds ahead of the "standard" chopped spicy tuna roll you may be used to. This spicy tuna was clean and with the added crunch of some cucumber and buttery avocado and topped with what I believe was Togarashi (nice touch). Moving on to the sashimi, I got a piece of salmon, tuna, and what I believe were yellowtail and amberjack. I can not stress this enough, it was beautiful. Clean clear flavors of the fish came right through, with not one hint of that "fishy" smell or taste. Good sahsimi fish is cleaned and cured by the chef and is in most cases not what your would call "fresh" its got a few days on it. There are very few sushi bars in Charlotte that offer quality at a normal price and this is one. My only suggestion, and its a selfish one at that, please put a Sanshokudon on the menu. Best of luck to...
