It happened late one Saturday evening -- no -- actually early one Sunday morning. Anyhow, I was out Doordashing and soon had an order to pick up from Nick's: a fish platter and a side of fried shrimp. What? Did I read it right? Fresh fish camp deliciousness available for pickup at 2:00 in the morning? No, I wasn't hallucinating. That was some mighty fine fried fish I smelled when I pulled into the lot and strolled into the restaurant. Greeted by friendly smiles and an efficient handover, I departed soon afterwards to deliver the order. The customer confirmed what I had already suspected -- a mighty fine seafood dinner is what he'd ordered. It only took me about a week to return under my own steam to sample Nick's fish and shrimp for myself. Damned skippy! Nick's did not disappoint - nor did it disappoint my friend who tagged along to try it for himself. (And . . I kid you not . . . he returned again the next day for more!) But don't take my word for it - even at concierge-style hours you can afford to try seafood on a regular person's budget. It's delicious but not too expensive -- and it's great to see what I think will be a long-term success right in the heart of the west side of town. A place that needs and deserves this down to Earth, solid quality eatery. Way...
Read moreI ordered through Google Maps to pickup as a first-time customer and came through the drive thru when I arrived since it was the end of a long night and it was raining. I was told I'd have to come inside to get my order, which I thought was kind of odd like "why can't it just be passed out the window?" but I was still willing to do. The only problem was that since there was a car ahead of me and no way out but through, I ended up sitting in the drive thru for almost 20 mins anyway hungry. Still, I was pleasantly surprised that once I got pulled around the building one of the guys actually brought my food out before I could get out and come in, which I really appreciated (even though his attitude was very clearly annoyed like someone made him do it). And the food, fried mushrooms and Philly cheesesteak combo with fries, was hot, super fresh tasting ingredients, and overall delicious. Maybe next time I'll just have to remember that it's not actually more convenient at this place to order ahead, which is unfortunate, but the food alone is definitely good enough to...
Read moreI love this restaurant so much.
I discovered it at like 2am last December after going to a local show with my then partner. It was the most phenomenal food I’ve ever had in my life. I was dead sober. I continued going back, and have done so for months.
There is no greater feeling than going to Nick’s Seafood and Gyros after the longest day ever—or for no reason at all. One time, my wisdom teeth came in during an event I was at. We left and came to Nick’s. I was in so much pain, but I ate that gyro. It was so amazing.
Plenty of times, I will DoorDash so much Nick’s Seafood and Gyros that I have to share it with other people. I talk about this restaurant so much, that I have people drive from University, Belmont and Gastonia—to try this restaurant.
I talk about this restaurant so much because it is by far so magical. The menu is so amazing and I have only had about 4 things from it.
I have never been inside. Only in the drive through. But it has...
