I ventured out and ordered the fresa cobb salad and WOW! Absolutely delicious! I don't think I'll ever go back to anything else... I am addicted! Perfect salad, dressing, portions. I get it with the grilled chicken, but you can order it on the lunch special with other options for cheaper. I just think the grilled chicken and steak is worth the upcharge :)
My partner and I have visited Que Fresa since they opened - and we have NEVER been disappointed.
The food - always delicious, seasoned and the way the meat is perfectly cooked and smoky 10/10
Our regular order is 2 fajita bowls, one with tinga chicken (spicy shredded chicken) and one with grilled steak. It's absolutely worth the upcharge -- the steak is delicious. I also love the tinga chicken, and I normally do not eat steak, but I can't stop ordering it!
We've also tried all of the preppy tacos besides the pork - we do not eat pork. However, every single one is delicious! Birria tacos are our favorite, and it's our "treat" since it's a bit fatty and higher calorie... but it's one of our go-to treat day meals.
The queso is okay but that's because we prefer a different type of queso - still delicious! We don't order it as much as we do the salsa and guac. The guac is good, although it tastes a bit manufactured sometimes. We normally add lime and a bit of salt and it's good to go. The house salsa (red sauce) is really good. The salsa is smoky and gives off a great flavor.
The chips are salted, fresh and HOT. I do wish they gave more chips though, sometimes that bag be a lil more empty than I'd like (lol.)
I do not drink alcohol but when a friend was in town, they tried the frozen soft serve margarita and said it was one of the best ones they've ever had.
Although it's a bit pricier than say, Chipotle, there's really no comparison. Every thing on the menu is great, it's cooked FRESH, and the employees are always welcoming and informative! There's been many times I've asked questions about the menu items, and asked for suggestions, and they've always been helpful and kind.
If you were to go I'd suggest the following;
Appetizer:
Corn Ribs, Loaded Nachos or Taquitos - all great
Entree:
Fajita bowl for a bit of a healthier option (at least that's what I tell myself)
Side if you still a lil peckish:
Drunken Baja Fish taco, Birria Taco and Campechano. Or, you can never go wrong with street tacos - I've tried them all besides the pork, very good!
And for dessert, the most important meal of the day, CHURRO KISSES!!!
As someone who lives in the community, I will always support Que Fresa! Anytime I have friends visit, this is the first place I take them to -- and they are always happy!
Looking forward to my next meal in a few...
Read moreI was recommended this restaurant by a friend who sent me an instagram story highlighting their soft serve margaritas. my family is from Raleigh but we happened to be traveling to Charlotte so we decided to stop in for lunch on the premise of those soft serve margaritas alone. Absolutely everything about this restaurant was a delight! We shared some of the strawberry margaritas, which were so refreshing after a hot day sightseeing. We order a variety of food; burrito, fajita bowl, fried rice bowl, and I got a chicken blt torta. All of the food was delicious! We were all raving to each other about it as we ate. I love tortas and its not often available at a lot of restaurants so I was very excited to see it on the menu. This is easily one of the best tortas I've had! The cheese brought an exciting element to the mix and every ingredient was so flavorful. The portions are generous, and well priced too! Four entrees (some lunch priced, some not), two soft serve margaritas, and a chips and queso appetizer came to about $75 before tip. The margaritas were $10 each so the food itself was $55. Not bad for feeding four hungry people!
All of the staff were so welcoming and friendly. When I asked about the margaritas they apologized that they were not able to do flights or other flavors, but they did have the strawberry flavor available, which was just fine by us! They were so kind answering our questions. You know how you can sometimes pick up a vibe from the employees about whether or not they like their job? These employees all seemed really enthusiastic and at ease. Although I did not get her name, the young woman operating the register was so incredibly generous. She offered us a free cuatro leches cake in exchange for this review. So yes my review may have been 'bought' for the price of cake, but I am genuinely and thoroughly ecstatic with the experience me and my party had at Que Fresa! We will 100% be back next time we are in Charlotte, and I will be recommending it to everyone I know who is in or traveling to the area. This is DEFINITELY a do-not-miss restaurant!!
Thank you so much to the team who served us, yall were so kind and gracious. My aunts are visiting from Ohio, and they were so excited to experience a local restaurant with as much charm and quality as yours. We hope to...
Read moreVery underwhelming & SUPER overpriced. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this place is NOT it. More americanized Mexican food with ONE SINGLE taco being about $4-$5, WOW, expensive. The whole ambiance, theme, and presentation of the food is very nice. Loved the decorations and ambiance of the place, but unfortunately, this is all this place has going for themselves. Ordered a regular margarita with a tajin rim, but unfortunately, it tasted like a lemonade. There was no taste of liquor at all, and for the price, I felt like I should've just ordered a lemonade at that point. So there started the disappointment. Ordered the chips and salsa, chips were great, the salsa not so much. No flavor at all. No salt, no pepper, just nothing. Felt like I was just dipping my chips into mush, and the only time I got flavor was when I got a piece of onion from the salsa. We ended up ordering the pork belly bowl, which, unfortunately, I should've listened to our waitress when she told us it could be better and use more sauce. Once I received the bowl, I instantly regretted it and noticed what she meant. Looked very dry and BLAND, and they gave me an avocado with a bunch of black spots all over it, ewww. Ended up switching it out for their burrito Cali, which was much better than the bowl, but unfortunately, the carnitas were so old, dry, and hard. I feel like the meat had just been sitting out for the longest time, and they gave me their leftover meat bc again, no TASTE at all. we ordered their Ramen Birria, and yup, instant regret again. Couldn't even finish it. The flavors just did not mix well even though it lacked a lot of flavor, and once you actually duh into it and mixed it all up, it left little desire to actually eat it. Overall, the concept of the restaurant, food presentation is THERE but the delivery and food leave little to be desired. $80 for 4 people was very expensive for everything to NOT be good, even the drinks. Super bummed as I've heard rav reviews about this place and from other elite Yelp members. I don't know if it was the time of day I came as to the reason why everything was not great or just an off day. Either way definetly will not be returning. Definetly will not...
