ATTN: THE COOKS DO NOT USE GLOVES WHEN PREPARING YOUR FOOD! I've seen customers send food back and the owner will tell them to put the food back on the line to be resold! Ew! The owner takes ALL of the tips, the employees NEVER see those tips! Restaurant has a bad ROACH problem I witnessed bugs in food after working with the it. They also use food from the day before and tell you it's all fresh. I've witnessed so much working here it has completely deterred me as a customer and quit eating the food as I witnessed the way they handle the food. If you like making minimum wage and don't get your tips and no discount on meals oh not to mention the slave driver who will cuss and completely disrespect you while your working and not to mention no breaks and no weekends OR holidays off then this is the place for you. This place is a complete hole on the wall with no value of its employees. Labor board was called because he didn't pay overtime to myself and one other employee, then he quit giving us a shift meal. Employees are overworked and under appreciated. In response to this narcissists' comments: The "management" at this restaurant is the most toxic and unprofessional I've ever seen. I've never had a job so soul sucking and mentally destructive. So Mr Tony no one is 'angry' from loosing a job at your workplace, in fact it's been a blessing. I suggest instead of commenting all over my review you should work on getting that health score above 90. Start treating people right that's why all your employees are angry and burnt out. I refer to this job as an "abusive relationship. "

Queen’s Soul Food delivers an unforgettable experience with its great tasting oxtails. My recent visit to this charming establishment left me impressed (it reminded me of the oxtails my grandmothers used to cook). It is hard find traditional, non-Jamaican style, oxtails these days but Queen’s Soul Food does and it is now my new spot. The oxtails were generously portioned, with hearty pieces of that left me completely satisfied. What truly set this dish apart was the absence of any unwanted fat; each bite was pure indulgence, showcasing the chef's commitment to quality and attention to detail. The exceptional customer service further elevated my first and second experience. The prices at Queen’s Soul Food are refreshingly reasonable, offering incredible value for such high-quality food. It's rare to find a dining establishment that strikes the perfect balance between quality and affordability, but Queen’s Soul Food effortlessly achieves this feat. My experience at Queen’s Soul Food surpassed all expectations. If you're in search of flavorful oxtails, impeccable service, and reasonable prices, look no further than Queen’s Soul Food. Okay, so not to be as if I am trying to bash anyone or speak ill on an establishment. In my honest opinion, this is just my experience for the first time. I did not expect buffet style good sitting in warmers with some meat made to order. I did appreciate the fact that the young fella waited until my meat was done before asking what sides I wanted and then fixed my plate. The lemonade was delicious. I wanted sweet tea, but it tasted like it needed a fresh batch. I had the whiting small plate, which consists of one meat and two sides. I complimented my whiting(prefer more seasoned)with fried okra (prefer more seasoning), cornbread (spot on), and Mac and cheese( prefer a less salt/pepper flavor), and a slice of pecan pie. My issue with a buffet is that the food in past experiences is barely warm. Same experience today. Atmosphere was nice, establishment clean, servers were nice, professional, and knowledgeable. We heard a lot about this place and was excited to try. I imagine if it was me, I couldn't do better, and it is what it is. Portions are generous, and that's appreciated. Overall, for myself, my family and friends, It's okay.

I rarely do reviews but felt this must be said. I stopped by yesterday afternoon for a to-go plate as I was in the area and sadly, after spending $45 to try a variety - I threw the ENTIRE meal away! Atmosphere wasn’t the cleanest Food presentation subpar - but I’m thinking “hey” so are most soul food joints and they’re usually the best - right?

The largest red flag should have been that NONE of the employees I saw had “soul” flobw (… and no shade). I would think the same if you saw ME in a Mexican or Indian restaurant as we go for that “authentic” cuisine.

The employees could barely speak English but I got a large plate with baked chicken, smothered pork chop with 3 sides and a side order of oxtails.

Food served cafeteria style - still ok for a soul food joint / HOWEVER upon ONE bite, I could tell the food was not fresh and had the aftertaste of being in that container for more than a day - did I mention also no seasoning? I mean everything tasted as if it was in leftover phase - and not just yesterday’s - and lacked enough proper seasoning to masquerade the back taste. After trying 1-2 bites of each meat and side, I threw it ALL away bc I really feared getting sick as that after taste only got stronger.

If I was closer, I would’ve returned with everything to request a refund - but I feel it’s necessary to say “please do better”. When you trust your name / food / reputation to employees, make sure it’s done right. I mean this wasn’t even to the standard of that one cousin at Thanksgiving who knows she can’t cook - but keeps bringing a dish that she’s now insulted nobody will eat!! $45 wasted and still had to cook after an...

I never usually post, but here goes. I've been searching for good soul food since I moved to Charlotte 6 months ago and I saw this place one day while driving. I checked the reviews and saw so many 5 stars that I decided to give it a try. Huge mistake!! 1) The lighting was very dim. Even with my glasses on I could barely see. 2) Even the dim lighting couldn't hide the appearance of the food. It seemed like it was just thrown together. 3) The fried chicken was dry and tasteless. 4) The collards weren't cooked enough and tasteless. 5) The macaroni and cheese was just weird! There was an aftertaste that I can't quite put my finger on, but it's irrelevant because whatever the seasoning was didn't belong in macaroni and cheese. 6) The roll was hard. 7) The meatloaf was more like meat mush and once again, tasteless! 8) The sweet potato pie had a strange almost soupy consistency....and it was too sweet.

The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because the yams we're on point and the customer service was excellent! Too bad the food wasn't good. I don't eat soul food often but when I do I want to get my grub on, not through $20 worth of food...
