American Deli — Restaurant in Charlotte

I always come here for my pregnant boss at least once a week while on the clock. I arrived today for a call in order and as usual no issues with the call in. But the woman with an attitude most days is always rude she works the front at the register and she is never nice. I never pay any attention because it’s not my food and I just want to get back to work. But today this lady had a very nasty attitude even worse than before and I couldn’t ignore. I asked for extra dipping sauce and I paid, I asked for more sauce and my drink and I guess I asked far too much. But I’m the one paying, I asked for my drink and then here comes the even bigger attitude presenting itself. After her being very rude and snatching my food then she proceeded to turn her back and started to use her phone. I simply asked excuse me ma’am can i speak to a manger or team lead. She turned around, rolled her eyes and put a French fry in her mouth and said “ no he not here”. I asked when will he be back so that I may speak to him, her response “ i don’t know I said tomorrow”. This was very rude and not to mention, eating in front of customers, using cellphone at work in public view, snatching food and not to mention the constant attitude. This is beyond ridiculous, it’s always something here, last time I came she had her daughter working the front register with her as she is assisting customers and she still had the nerve to have bad at customer service and eating at the register and bagging customers order. So independence Blvd in Charlotte American Deli has an employee that has bad customer service, and cook to order food and no manger or team lead on duty . Now you wonder why they health score is LOW….. Looking for independence American Deli store manager assistant manager , team lead and shift lead because they are no where to be found and the customer service is bad. Don’t EAT HERE EVER!!! They need to do something about this or just close...

My wife and I visited this location a couple of days ago for lunch. We both ordered the classic Reuben sandwich with fries and a drink.

The total was $23.62 for 2 generously portioned lunch meals, which we both thought was very reasonable.

The fries were perfectly seasoned and cooked (not soggy). The Reuben was constructed with deliciously toasted swirled-style rye bread (the bread was toasted on the grill with butter - the flavor from this was amazing!). Beautifully crispy-edged Corned beef that was tender in the middle. A perfectly melted slice of cheese, and sourcrout that was not over powering and matched the flavor intensity of the corned beef nicely.

As our meals were being prepared, we patiently waited in the lobby. The tables and chairs were clean and everything was very orderly and appeared to be sanitary. Speaking of sanitary, their restaurant score overall was 94% which is very clean.

I am unable to shout out any particular employees as they were not wearing name tags at that moment. However, this is by no means a knock on the establishment, they were very courteous, gracious, and speedy with their work.

I love their wings, but the service is horrible. I placed An order for pickup at 5:35 for 30 wings they told me 10-15 minutes I gave them 20 because I know they’re usually a little busy so I gave them some extra time. I get there 5:55 Gave them my order number and Was waiting because it wasn’t ready. My number was 168 People come in after me placing their order and getting their meals before me I watched them put out like 10 orders of wings. They’re up in the 180s with order numbers and she still hasn’t called my order. I went back to ask if she called my number and I missed it and she goes no It’s coming now. Proceeds to go back and say something to one of the guys there and start laughing and leave me waiting like another 10 minutes. I ended up getting my food at 625 50 minutes after I placed the order.
