Heard many great things about this place so me and some friends gave this place a try. We had a party of about 6. Part of our party was already seated. Me and another friend were not too far behind. This was on Sunday 3/9 around 1:30. Maybe a little after.
Upon walking in the hostess was VERY rude. We were not greeted AT ALL while coming in. We did not know this hostess from Adam’s house cat (southern saying ) we came in and we spoke and she just stared at us with the nastiest look on her face. So WE had to initiate the conversation. Granted she was staring us down as soon as we walked in. We both said hello/good afternoon and informed the hostess our party was already seated so we didn’t need to be checked in or anything. She just stared at us so nasty like I can’t even begin to describe. I felt uncomfortable. She looked at me specifically up and down like I had the plague or something. Or like we had some sort of personal beef. So to ease things and I didn’t have to do this, I complimented her glasses for I truly loved them. They were beautiful on her. I barely got a thank you to come from her mouth. After that we proceeded to sit down with the remainder of our party. I honestly felt a way about that entire interaction. So I asked my friends, again a total of 6 of us and I was like hey yall I could be just me but was the hostess rude. And they all were like YEAH I thought it was just me. I said ok so they felt the negative energy too when they walked in. I will add again we are STRANGERS to this person.
I tried not to dwell too much on it but after this seeing the hostess be KIND to everyone else upon arriving. Greeting them etc smiling. And at that point I was like yeah ok not cool at all.
Our waitress Brittany turned that sour moment around. She was kind, super knowledgeable of the menu and made amazing recommendations. Had great conversation with us. And really made our experience a tad bit more enjoyable. So 5 stars for HER.
The food was delicious. Most of my party had the habanero fried rice and they loved it. I stuck to French toast and bacon.
The rating is where it is simply based on the very first impression upon walking in.
MANAGEMENT: please have some corrective action training with this individual that was working the host stand on Sunday 3/9 around 1:30pm EST. I am not sure what the issue was but for her to be so rude to me and my party and we do not know her… truly put a sour taste in our mouths. And nothing occurred for her to be rude. We walked in and attitude was...
Read moreCelebrated Son 20th birthday yesterday! I I have never been here - but HIGHLY recommend a visit. Look forward to other opinions.
Snooze Eatery in Plaza Mid-wood.
Our absolute favorites - the habanero pork belly, gluten free gourmet pancakes and the OMG French Toast with AMAZING marscapone - truly wonderful. Note: they made it gluten free even though it wasn’t GF on the menu!!
Oh!!!!! And the almond milk pumpkin lattes were beautiful xoxox and tasted amazing!
Use the app, get on the waitlist, make SURE you are all there before you walk in.
I got there at about 10:32 AM yesterday and if everybody had been here? We would’ve been able to be seated right away.
I think - but please do not hold me accountable to this - Saturday you get there and if everybody’s not there, they just put you on the waitlist, but honestly a 15 minute wait was not a big deal for us.
Oh my goodness, the service was wonderful in my opinion for such a hopping place.
The staff, host/front desk folks were extremely positive, supportive, and very professional.
It’s a casual joint, so don’t dress up.
They had a really nice outdoor space. I’m going to say it again, the place was freaking hopping!
Now, as for the food? I personally did not like the crabcake.
Just flavor/texture, etc. etc. it was not something I would get again.
Don’t bother with the ham steak - as you can see from the picture. The ham steak was quite small and honestly? I would prefer just having ham, a slice from a whole ham. I don’t recommend purchasing it it’s not worth it.
However, everything else was really great. I’m serious about that.
OMG French toast? Again we did all gluten-free. It was fabulous! The seasonal gluten-free pancakes? Fantastic! The bacon and the pork belly? Excellent! The latte? You cannot go wrong.
I had black coffee and I believe from what I saw in the cup? That’s fresh ground coffee beans.
I can only speak to the location, Plaza Midwood, but if you’re in that area and you’re looking for a good breakfast place, we absolutely highly recommend them across-the-board.
Oh my God look at all the food we ate and I’m going to share that it was $135 , but four people ate REALLY well and we had some leftovers to take home.
For a birthday celebration, it was worth it in my personal opinion, and in our personal experience.
I hope this helps! Thank you again to the amazing staff for a...
Read moreSnooze an A.M. Eatery is hands-down one of the best Brunch spots in Charlotte and well worth the two hour wait. It was my first time here and, man, was I impressed by the food, atmosphere, and variance in the menu options - that while classics - were definitely evelevated. The Corned Beef and Hash was fresh and housemate with some of the best bacon I've ever had in my life - thick, flavorful, and not at all greasy.
Our spectacular meals was countered with tableside service that left little to be desired in a way that could easily be described as the worst server I've had in my life. Frank was absolutely blasé about his service and showed not an ounce of hospitality towards me and my guest. He made us feel burdened by our presence in his section and displayed this same aura to those also "blessed" to have him as their server. He was a straight-up order taker, nothing more. The only words he spoke to us our entire meal was a grumbling, "What can I get you?" Not a single thing more afterward. He never checked in on us after our meal was delivered, refilled our drinks, asked how our meal was, and when he returned with the check, he threw on the table and walked away, again with a word. He was taciturn with an attitude.
As a manager of restaurant, if a member of my team ever treated my guests like Frank did, he'd be finding another job that day. It's not worth having the sanctity of such a great establishment as Snooze tainted by someone who clearly doesn't give a damn.
I'm still leavening 5-stars because the food was just that good, and the other servers (and bubbly male manager) who checked in on us and got us what we needed when Frank couldn't be bothered, showed me that one bad apple hasn't spoiled the bunch. And that Snooze is a tree still worth...
