YAFO is a perfect spot to grab a refreshing meal in a timely manner!
I was looking for a spot to grab something quick & refreshing. While looking on Google Maps after my original choice was closed early for a staff meeting, I saw 'YAFO Kitchen' pop up as an option. I walked in & instantly noticed that it had that Chipotle type setup.
I mentioned to the team member working that it was my first time & asked her how it worked. She was kind enough to break down what my bases are, how many toppings I get, & what's not included in the base price.
Overall, I was able to build a bowl with a variety of toppings, which had a nice blend of flavor. The falafels were extra (4 for $2), but I thought they were worth the price. The protein options, such as any chicken, beef, etc, are all extra. I thought $3 extra for chicken was too much, so I passed.
The food overall was very tasty & fresh. The Hummus & rice blended well together. The chic peas were cooked perfectly. The rest of bowl was accurate & I wasn't disappointed in it. I got a small side of mac & cheese for $1 extra & it was delicious! I highly recommend it as a main if possible.
I'm looking forward to coming back to VAFO Kitchen to try other items because the bowl I...
Read moreRan into this restaurant while visiting Charlotte for a sneaker convention. My sister wanted some Mediterranean for lunch and we happened upon YAFO. The interior is spacious and welcoming with its modern design elements. You're met with a bar line of choices from the menu ranging from a variety of meats, veggies and sauces all of it just bombarding the senses. My sister went with the spicy chicken sandwich with a side of fries to play on the safe side [also she was craving hard that day] I on the other had could not make up my mind. So being me I wanted a little of everything but knew I couldn't do that asked the girl behind the glass any suggestions. And all of them were good and looked good. But to her surprise I asked "make me something you would make for yourself." And that is what you see in my picture. Kale, chicken, rice pilaf, noodle salad. She poured it on like she was about to go on break and devour this plate. Everything was fresh from the first bite to the last. I barely was able to finish my meal but it was just too good to not clean the plate. A wash with Pabst and I can definitely say Yafo is a good place to get yourself a good plate. Try what I did and you might be surprised at what they cook up...
Read moreI love eating at YAFO. Their lamb is delicious, and I could eat a whole pile of their grape leaves. Their pitas are fresh and soft, and they have a whole assortment of different sauces for you. Their drinks are very good as well. My favorite is their mint strawberry, but I enjoy just about all of them. Their baklava surprised me because it is really good as well. They are a bit pricey. My last mean was about $24 for just me (the lamb adds another $6 to the price).
The atmosphere is what you would expect for a fast-casual dining place, very similar to the inside of a Qdoba apart from the decorations.
Parking is a challenge. They have a very small parking lot, which will be completely full during lunch. You can park on the side street, but there are restricted areas where you may get towed, and even there, parking is limited.
With all of that being said, I will still venture out for YAFO when I can. The food is healthy and delicious, and you get a lot of it, although you will come out of...
