I’ll start this by saying: I’ve never liked burgers, my entire life. However, I came here for the first time because of friends who were visiting in town with their dog. We were trying to find a dog friendly place to eat in Plaza, and my usual go-to, zada janes, was closing early. So, despite the fact that I’ve never been a burger person, we ended up at a burger joint. I figured surely I’d find something I liked. Well, I wasn’t wrong!
First, we started off with bloody Mary’s and two half orders of fries with dipping sauces: one was the regular fries and one was the Buffalo fries. The server recommended getting a half order of the Buffalo fries because they can get soggy. That was a great suggestion, which we appreciated our server mentioning to us. A half order is perfect. I personally preferred the regular fries, because they showcased all the great dipping sauces they have. I especially loved the adobo ranch! Oh and the bloody Mary’s were great, best Bloody Mary I’ve had in Charlotte.
Now onto the burgers. I decided to try a Turkey burger, with goat cheese, arugula, balsamic fig jam, and roasted red peppers. It was PHENOMENAL. The flavors worked so well together. And it’s $10! It seems rare to find a gourmet burger that doesn’t break the bank, so I definitely took note of the reasonable pricing.
My friend did a build your own burger with bison. I tried a bite and it was amazing! So juicy and flavorful and the texture was good (that’s usually what turns me off of burgers). Coming from someone who doesn’t even like burgers (or, didn’t, I should say), it’s saying a lot how much I enjoyed all the food here.
After my first visit, I brought some friends visiting from out of town here and they were all impressed with the quality of food and the price. My friend who never finishes a meal in one sitting finished her whole burger and loved it.
The service was great both times!
Overall very impressed with the quality of this place and impressed that they have me coming back for more when I started off not even liking burgers. They converted me! Thanks guys. I’ll...
Read moreUpdated Again (2019): Things have definitely improved back to the review I left in 2017. I’ve visited multiple times after the GM contacted me, and the food quality has skyrocketed. Anything we’ve had so far has been great, and we visit rather frequently now. Not sure what happened in 2018, but hopefully they stick to whatever they fixed and keep it like it is. Thanks for actually listening to the reviews, y’all. :)
Updated Review (2018): I dropped two stars from the previous time I was here... the quality of burgers has drastically gone down hill. I wanted to show my roommate how amazing this place was, since he’d never been, but it was NOT a good experience. The buns they used are the equivalent of nothing, they were soggy and falling apart as soon as I picked up my burger. I ate it super quick simply because I was worried I wouldn’t be able to even hold it anymore. My roommate’s literally fell apart in his hand, he almost ate it with a knife and fork. Service was still good, but I can definitely tell you I won’t be coming back anytime soon.
Old Review (2017): It's been a few months when I visited, but I remember very clearly that I loved it here. I'm not a huge fan of beer, but the friend I was with is and she was ecstatic to see the selection. Our burgers and portion sizes were very good, and I remember I loved my burger. The only thing was that since we were seated in the bar section it was really loud, and by the time we left my voice hurt from us talking so loud to each other (and laughing). I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a great burger, good scenery and seating, and to anyone who...
Read moreI REALLY wanted to love the Moo & Brew, but in the end I was a little disappointed. We ordered the cheese curds, which were definitely delicious and probably the highlight of the meal. But the burgers were not great. We had a bison burger, a turkey burger, a regular beef burger, and a smash beef patty (the moo melt). The turkey burger seemed tasty and moist, but the bison and the regular beef patty were both WAY overcooked and dry as all get out. The smash patty moo melt was actually super tasty, but when I asked if they were willing to smash any other burgers instead of serving it as a beef ball they said no, which I find to be a little bit of a diva move: I feel like your job in the food service industry is to satisfy your guests, and if you can do something for them easily (like smash a patty against the grill the way you already do for some sandwiches) then you should do it. My friend's Guinness was super weak - maybe an old Keg? - and my flight came out pretty luke warm straight off. My wife could barely taste any of the condiments on her burger and the whole affair was just dry and boring to her. The burgers are also a bit overpriced at around $12 for just a burger no fries or anything. The sweet potato fries were pretty tasty but the olive oil / parm fries were SUPER oily and kind of underwhelming. I'm sure I'll go back because I didn't get to try the jalapeño poppers and I actually liked my moo melt quite a bit, but all in all I thought this place was a little...
