The Cooking Pot- African kitchen — Restaurant in Charlotte

Called to place an order for pickup because I live 24 minutes away from the resturant. When I ordered, I asked for Jolof Rice, Grilled Fish and Greens. Once I arrived, my food was not finished. It took her 15 minutes to prepare my food after I drove 24 minutes to pick it up. Mind you all, I was the only person in the resturant. Once she began to fix my plate, I was displeased with the plain Jollof Rice (no carrots or peas or any vegetable). I let it go and said to my self "as long as it taste delicious I won't sweat the rice". She claimed that it was illegal to sell Jollof rice with carrots and peas. However, I had gotten it other places with peas and carrots. She went to the back and came back out with a piece of fish that did not look appetizing. I mentioned to her that I did not like the look of the fish and I rather my fish with the entire head. She then came out with a green soup which she claimed were my greens. At this point I was truly dissapointed to have drove 24 minutes for this food for a 19.00 dollar Plate! When I mentioned that I did not like those type of greens she became noticeably upset and a bit rude. She gave me 4 dollars back after I turned down the greens. When I tasted the food I was extremely dissapointed. The rice greasy, fish tough and could use better seasoning. I cannot believe I paid that much for that food. Now wonder they been closed down for almost 3 months....Rude customer service and miserable staff how is this even a business... must be a joke the lady working behind the counter yelled at me and told me that i couldn't talk to anyone in the store after I purchased my food and told me I was not allowed back into the store because I was talking with another customer about the experience I encountered with being shorted on a party jollof rice I ordered. I ordered a party jollof and plantains and was only served 2 spoons of rice. But wanted to give me gravy for free I did NOT request for gravy I requested for rice! lol if that the case why notú charge me for the gravy instead of UNDER portioning me on the rice that I paid for. Under portioning and rude and I wouldn't advise any one to eat here! The police was called out because she refused to refund me and made me pay for my food before serving me and they advise me to file a claim through the BBB & file a claim through my bank which im going to do ! U were yelling at me I wasn't yelling at all I was calm until the police came ! I was never escorted out by the police ! I even sat outside to file a claim ! All of your reviews say the same thing UNDER portion and rude SCAM ! U won't be open long and GOD don't like ugly u will see ! U are a compulsive liar all ur customers can't be lying it's literally repetitive complaints about...

The best African restaurant in Charlotte. Food is super authentic, fresh and delicious. This is an ethnic restaurant, so when you come have in mind that it is not sold as ethnic and served as american. i have read some of the comments this restaurant is truly authentic African from their choice of chicken (hen) and beef (grass fed). Africans don't believe meat melts in your mouth like Americans do because it is not chocolate it has to have a certain degree of chew to it but not too tough but an american will consider this to be tough. because everything is fresh you will have to wait for some items to be prepared and everything on the menu cannot be available everyday because they are made from scratch and not store bought and heated up giving the false illusion that it is fresh, or made in house. I have been to the store several times and i love eating there, they have 3 signs saying " restroom for customers only" so why cause trouble if you know u are not going to do business with them but just use their restroom, go back to the business you gave your money to and use their restroom. they have never stopped anyone from using the restroom if doing business with them. People come to an ethnic restaurant with an open mind and don't expect everything thing to be americanized, then it is no longer authentic. keep up the good job...
