My experience eating at Tima African Restaurant was horrible today. I reviewed the menu with the young lady who was taking orders & cashiering. After realizing there were not many options for vegetarians the lady quickly spoke & assured me that they could cook one of the meals for me without any meat inside. She said this to me more than once and proceeded to suggest a few options. I decided on the saga saga potatoes leaves over rice. I wanted joloaf rice but she told me all they had was white rice. When I got back to work and opened the food, I could smell the meat inside. The smell was strong and the food was extremely greasy and oosing with fat juice from the meat that had been cooking inside. There were also peices of animal bone in my potato leaves dish. You can see a very large bone in the photo I shared. I called the restaurant and the young lady who originally helped me told me that they did not cook any meat inside my potato leaves dish. I told her it would make me sick if I ate it and she continued to lie to me, not caring. The cook in the kitchen clearly gave me the normal saga saga stew. She just simply pulled the meat out, failing to remove the animal bones. Why lie to me? Tima African Restaurant has a team of inconsiderate liars and that's a damn shame. Needless to say, I did not eat lunch and I went back to work hungry after paying $24.00, tip included. I am very disappointed with the deceitful service, disrespect and food recieved. I have lots of friends and family who are not vegetarian. However, I will not be sharing this place with anyone.

We are in town for a preseason basketball game and decided to give this place a try and it was a win! From the freshness of the vegetables, the flavorful beverages, our tender chicken and Lamb, to the crispy red snapper, it's hard to know where to start! But I can't say enough about the service and how fast we got our foods, almost like they knew we were coming! We're making plans to return here from GA as soon as we get settled from Hurricane Helene. Thanks for a wonderful meal and your hospitality!

I really enjoyed their red jellof rice with lamb and plantain. the egg roll dish was plentiful and plated very pretty. it was a large portion and the chicken one even bigger. the chefs were very kind and even gave us another dish after we didn't enjoy the cassava stew. very kind and funny waiter. overall amazing experience anyone looking for African food and visiting Charlotte should definitely come and eat here! I know we definitely will when we visit again😋

The food at this restaurant was AMAZING! This was my first time trying this particular cuisine and I am such a picky eater but this food was 10/10 phenomenal! The taste of everything was perfection. Everything was seasoned perfectly not too salty and I didn’t feel heavy after eating it. The FuFu was top tier the meat was falling off the bone. The Patty’s were so good! I cannot wait to try all their other dishes. I will definitely be a returning customer. The customer service was also good. The lady I spoke with on the phone was so pleasant and sweet. You can tell these people truly care about food quality and customer care. I am so happy to have found this gem in the community. Definitely try the FuFu with the mixed meat, the plantains, the Pattie’s and the sweet plantains. Even the salad was good and a large portion. Excellent job guys! -Your...

The food here is great at Tima. I've now eaten from here a handful of times and everything I've had was great. My only problem is they're inconsistent with what is served. I've dined in, had delivery through DD and picked up through DD and each time received something different when ordering the same items or had items missing. For example the Fataya patties. Had them delivered and got 4 patties 2bded, and 2 fish. Lived it. Went in and ordered takeout and got home and the ordered had 3 beef patties and that was all. Then ordered pick up and got 4 beef patties. Those times I was pretty upset because I wanted the fish patties more than beef yet didn't get any and was shorted a patty in an order. Looks like a nice family run business and I will continue to support, but I'd like more consistency or at least the option to ask for specific things...
