Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Charlottesville

My husband and I have given this Applebee's restaurant three chances, but after three poor experiences, it's permanently off of our list of places to eat. On each occasion when we have eaten here over the past nine months we have found the food and service to be poor. I know we're not talking about five-star dining at an Applebee's, but the food should arrive with the order correct and at the proper temperature. On each occasion when we've visited here, that has not occurred. In addition, the service was slow from ordering to food delivery on each occasion, in excess of 20 minutes each time. And although each time the restaurant was not extremely busy and there appeared to be adequate to excess wait staff, our service was inattentive and poor. On our second visit, my husband's dinner salad was made incorrectly, including onions and cheese, which he cannot eat and which we had requested be left off of his salad. Once we finally got our waitperson's attention and advised her of the error, my husband waited another ten minutes for a corrected salad to be brought to him. At the last visit a few days ago, Sunday, June 16th, we were given only forks to eat with and when we asked for knives, we waited an inordinate amount of time for those to be delivered while our food cooled further on our plates since we could not cut it up to eat it. The person who brought our food to our table was not the person who had taken our order. When I asked for knives and also butter for our bread, she advised that I would need to speak to our waitperson about that. I advised that person had not come back to our table since she had taken the food order. The food runner then just left. No one cleared used dishes from the table after we finished our salads and we had to actually get up from our table and find our waitperson to request refills of our drinks. In addition, the ladies rest room was quite messy and dirty when I used it. I'm not sure what the problem is with this Applebee's location, but something really needs to change. We are finished here and I'd suggest others go someone else to eat. There are plenty of other choices...

What an experience!! The 1st thing we told our waitress was my wife has celiac disease and the Alpha Gal allergy and she had no clue as to what either were. So we explained it to her and ordered from the gluten free options. We ordered the gluten free wings and the waitress asked bone in or out? We replied so are both gluten free to which she replied yes. After eating just a few it was very obvious they were not gluten free. We flagged her down and asked did you be sure to put in the order gluten free wings because she is in terrible pain. Her reply was I think so!! So she goes to the kitchen comes back as says no those are regular not gluten free. She went back to get the manager and it only got worse from there. The manager listened to our side and replied well it has breading so you should have known it would contain gluten!! She was the most uneducated person about allergies to be in a managerial position at a restaurant I've ever come across. Very rude and short with us. We explained that the waitress said yes we have gluten free in both bone in and bone out and she said oh well she is wrong. No care or compassion at all for the pain they put my wife through. It's too late when your ignorance kills someone, please get the training needed to prevent anyone else from experiencing this. We paid our bill and left. I did call corporate to make them aware as well and they were extremely disappointed in how this was handled. They were really upset that no discount was offered and I said we did t expect or want that we just wanted to make them aware of what they caused and how the lack of concern we received from the manager insured we will never return to...

Multiple times ordered food to go at Applebee's in Charlottesville VA. The food is fine. The problem is picking up the food. Nobody wants to help you. 1 time I counted how many times I was ignored standing and waiting for anyone to acknowledge my presence trying to pick up my order. I counted I was ignored 11 times by 5 different employees. Walked right by me several times knowing I'm there to pick up my food, but nobody would look at me to help me. Nobody. Usually it takes about 10-15 minutes standing there before they finally send someone over to acknowledge that you're there and will help you. It makes the entire experience horrible. Last time was my last time. I'll never go back. This one waitress didn't like that I had the nerve to bother her to please try and get someone to get my food and she made pretty vile remarks toward me on my way out I can't repeat. Ironically she made a point to not ignore me leaving. I've only had this negative experience in the Charlottesville location. Never again. Never

Update: I was contacted via email by Mike Meadows stating he was the manager of the Charlottesville Applebee's. He asked me to respond to him describing my experience. I did. He has not responded back. I'll consider the lack of response as a failure in customer relations and I'll reiterate that I'll never...
