La Flor Michoacana — Restaurant in Charlottesville

La Flor Michoacana is widely known by the university students in the area as an Instagram worthy spot for their aesthetically pleasing (and relatively cheap- $2.20 each) popsicles. They have a wide variety of flavors- everything from a key lime pie to a pineapple to a bubblegum concoction. Most flavors have large pieces of fruit or cookie that can be seen through the wrapping, all of which contribute to the photo-op potential of this place.

As for taste, the lime pie popsicle that I had was extremely creamy and definitely tasted as I remember key lime pie to taste. The cookie acting as a "pie crust" was just a bit crunchy but not frozen- the perfect replica of the pie's crust itself. The original popsicle that my friend had- a yogurt pop with kiwi and other fruit in it- was delicious as well. She complained about the kiwi adding a bit of a sour taste, but I found no problems as it added to the flavor.

Recently I visit this place to get some ice cream with my granddaughter half Black and Hispanic we go out to get ice cream and we will never ask are treated like we were invited keep ahead of us was. I grab ice cream bars out the box in front lady told me don't go in the boxes but their face towards us I didn't know we wasn't supposed to do that however my granddaughter notice it was treating us kind of funny and so did I however I kept my cool and paid for my ice cream which is a little pricey but I don't mind and I locked my experience was not good I would never go back. This place is actually amazing, highly recommend especially on a hot day. I had the fruit punch popsicle and it was the most refreshing thing--really high-quality house-made fruit juice, lovely texture that crumbled almost like shaved ice when bitten into, and tasty fruit slices embedded throughout. My partner had the leches cake popsicle which was also delicious from the couple bits I had of it....
