Royalty Eats — Restaurant in Charlottesville

My friends and I were looking for good food to sit down to after a day of driving Skyline and decided in this restaurant because it serves collard greens and easy eats. As we pull in, we notice the sign says its a soul food restaurant. Haven't had soul food in a restaurant in a decade or two because some just don't get how to make good soul food. Like many cuisines with roots in the family kitchen, soul food comes from the heart of the cook. Well I am here to say, this cook puts a bit of her heart in every dish. Collards are superb. The wings, fried catfish, chicken and shrimp to die for and I would be remiss if I don't mention the potato salad. This potato salad is fantastic. I have consumed some potato salad over the years. From Minnesota to the I10 corridor and beyond and this potato salad is definitely in the top 3 best ever. Biggest regrets: being too full to try the wonderful looking desserts AND not taking names. Our server told us the cook makes everything from scratch. Not a can or box to be seen. He told us she takes pride in crafting her food. In my opinion, this pride shows. We unabashedly applauded her for the fine meal. Of course this earned us a look from everyone lined up to grab their take out meals. Maybe they already know this is the best hidden gem in...

For a soul food restaurant you don't smell any greens cooking.. all I seen was deep fryers ..prices are way too expensive and the menu wrong for the side of town they on...I hate to say it because I try to support black businesses but this one i going to pass up... only good thing I seen was hired staff was nice.... soul food we want see pots boiling and pigfeet being Cook... not my experience at all... what you call organization was Sentra Martha Jefferson promotion for good health.. given to me for Xmas... you have nice staff.and rent a very clean building...I wish you success.. Came from Richmond and had an appointment at UVA which is less than 5 minutes away. Me and my gf came here after the appointment and boyyyyyyy let me tell you. I have another appointment in a few weeks and this is all I’ve been thinking about lol. None of that canned yams or greens. Talking homemade from scratch!
