Edit:: I visited again today and noticed that the bowls are smaller than they used to be and not nearly as full. Still great taste, but disappointed in the change for the amount that we pay. Taking another star. I am surprised.
One of the best places to eat on Barracks. Poke Sushi Bowl is similar to Chipotle in how you walk in, chose the ingredients you want or a normal menu item and it is prepared right in front of you. You can create your own combo bowls or pick from a selection of combos designed by the restaurant. I love this place because the food is fresh and the portion size is great/on the larger side. Prices are very reasonable between $9-$12 for fresh sashimi, avocado, eel, seaweed and other many high quality ingredients they use. It has always looked clean when I went, which is normally around the busy lunch hours. I took a star off because my manager has celiac disease and the site says (or said 2 weeks ago) that the imitation crab is gluten free and it is in fact NOT. It is a good thing that while ordering for him, I mentioned that he needs gluten free everything. Also, the one woman assisting me was very nice, but the other woman that was helping others and informed me that it is not gluten free was not the nicest. I told her about the mistake on the site and she told me she let her management know, but there were no apologies. She seemed very blunt and irritated with me and my coworker when we were being very kind. This could have been a lawsuit and bad ratings on them had someone else gotten sick. Regardless of this experience with this one worker, I will go back there often for lunch unless the unpleasant person gives more attitude. The food is...
Read moreMy mom has recently fallen in love with poke bowls, and these were fall-in-love-with-able. We actually each got the same "signature" bowl (The Corner) with brown rice, but I gave her my salmon and I took her eel because I love eel and dislike salmon, and she loves salmon but hates eel. The staff was friendly, quick and informative about their offerings and the restaurant was clean and nice, a good feel for lunch or casual quick dinner. Though we ordered their signature bowls, they didn't mind our obnoxious substitution situation, even though you could just put your own bowl together. Also, they have vegan, vegetarian and meat (pork, chicken) options, and (obviously) gluten free as well, so if you aren't comfortable with raw fish (or cooked fish like the eel in the bowls my mom and I got) there are still delicious choices. I know a lot of poke bowls use pineapple, but there was (ripened to perfection) mango in these ones, and it was...
Read moreI suddenly want to have a taste of ramen back to when I was in Japan so I start with the Japanese restaurant nearest to me. Friendly staff, quiet environment, food probably is not worth the price. Soup is blended with some sort of flavor pack and nothing close to a rich and hearty tonkotsu broth, ramen tastes just like instant, egg is half of a below average egg you can buy in store with 99 cents for a dozen. Saltiness is what you can expect from a ramen so get a cup of water. Service is rather slow in ramen standard but consider it’s not actual ramen. Definitely not worth 10 bucks since you can easily recreate it by yourself, but the food overall is ok, instant noodle is not bad, won’t be...
