Oh my god. I'm telling you, now you want not just good not just great not just excellent rather how bout superiorly over the top and above all the rest, well the Sedona Taphouse is the place for you to go and indulge. Look I don't drink so I can not comment about the drinks but when me and my wife go to check out places and short trips, eating well is part of the itinerary.
This tap house absolutely owned the challenge. The crab stuffed shrimp which is what I tackled was beyond grate. Plus the colossal shrimp used were indeed colossal. The dipping sauce which I assume is a home recipe was real real good. It was light and buttery with just a hint of lemon it was a most excellent topping for those shrimp that was stuffed with crab meat that was out of the world.
I was amazed to see my wife who normally eats like a bird eat everything you could eat off her bourbon pork chop. Honest I was kinda amazed cause just like the shrimp , her chop was anything but scrawny. And she did eat every bit you could off that chop
The creamy garlic mashed potatoes were indeed creamy they had just the correct amount of garlic that allowed you to taste it but was no where even close to be overpowering. That along with the spinach had you walking away from the meal thinking and saying "Wow, that was good I mean really really good".
However that was not the end. The two desserts we got put this whole experience hands down way above anything we could have expected. In fact truth be known I don't see how the competition can even hope to come close. When you get the opportunity to sample and saviour this fine eatery for dessert may I suggest to you a slice of Carmel Salted Cheese Cake or Chocolate Decadence.. And that's all I'm gonna say. That and it'll be a dessert you'll not forget.
Bottom line this place has food that is worth the travel to go enjoy. It's a relatively small place but seemed to have a comfortably warm atmosphere.
It's a place I can say with absolute certainty that you will enjoy, alone, on a date, or with a group.
It's, the Sedona Taphouse is a place I can I do and I will not merely suggest but rather I highly recommend and encourage any one and everyone to find to check out and then you make up your own minds. And I am willing to bet if you elect to take on my challenge when your done and walking to your car full and content, you'll realize that that dude who wrote that review was on point about what he said about the Sedona Taphouse.
Ps. Almost forgot, the place is well priced. For all we ate that night I spent less than $100 and that include a great tip for the server and the cook staff as well.
Enough of me talking get up and go check it out for yourself you will...
Read moreWe stopped in Charlottesville on our way back home from our road trip. We decided to give Sedona Taphouse a try since we liked their menu online. Our first impression was that it was a happening place for locals. There appeared to be a large party going on and it was quite loud. We chose to dine outside so we could converse better.
When our waiter came over, we asked about the table being sticky. He told us it was due to the heat and assured us it was clean. He did not offer to wipe it. Later on when another table was turned over and cleaned my husband checked it and it wasn't sticky.
Our waiter seemed to be having difficulties. We weren't sure if he was overwhelmed by what was happening inside or if he couldn't stay focused. He asked the same questions several times each time he came to the table, and we had to ask a number of times for the same things. Also, he was sweating profusely and kept wiping his face and head and then wiping it on his clothes. In fairness it was still hot (it was about 8pm) but it didn't sit well with my stomach.
My husband ordered a beer flight of 4 local brews. The waiter came back to tell him they were out of one of the beers so he chose another beer. Then he came back with 3 of the glasses full and 1 of them 1/2 full and told him that there was a problem with one of the taps so he chose another beer. No problem, it happens. The problem with the flight was that it looked like he bumped into something and it was a mess. Also, he never explained which beer was what, so he didn't know the names of those he liked. I had the Lemon Basil Monsoon which was outstanding. My husband's next drink was a manhattan which was very good! Kudos to the mixologist!! My husband chose the STH burger with a side of fries. He said it was a great combination of spicy and sweet, meaty and cheesy. He was very happy to keep wiping his hands! I chose the salmon dinner and picked Lemon Basil Butter as my topping and spinach and asparagus as my sides. It was a great combination and the sauce really made it all pop. Some of the asparagus was a bit woody but aside from that, I enjoyed my dinner. Throughout our stay we observed the server at the corner table outside next to us. He was taking care of 3 older patrons. We heard that it was his first day working solo. We were so impressed with the level of attentiveness and care (and a bit jealous) that we mentioned it to the manager on the way out. I feel bad that I can't remember his name altho we know it started with a T. Would we go back again? Yes, however we would make sure to have a different server. We liked the place, the mixologist and the food. Value? Good. Presentation? Fair. ...
Read moreI would not eat here again 😒. The food overall does not taste good in my opinion.
The stuff shrimp was so salty I could not eat it and the sauce was horrible and the crab was full of mealy stuffing. If you have crab stuffed shrimp you do not need a sauce the crab should stand out and pair with the shrimp. The filet was cooked to medium but again the food was heavily seasoned and was not in my opinion, something I'd want to put in my body. My butter on the side was half warm and cold. Mashed potatoes was not hot and was soaked in the red juice from the steak sitting on top, 😑, this should never happen. Grilled veggies was not prepared to order and was not crisp but soggy. This should be made to order on the grill top, it was just not good and you don't need the red pepper strips, it was just not good. Do Not order the pineapple dessert. The whip cream came out melted, soopy and warm and the cake clearly was frozen and then over microwaved. It was just horrible and rubbery like when you microwave bread for too long. The brownie was also uneaten, it was hard at the top, microwaved partially through and very crumbly, in addition it had that refrigerator burn taste, and so it was probably just old past its time and needed to be thrown out. Do not put your frozen desserts in the same cooler with open food, you could taste it in the brownie. The nachos was okay, only if they did not put so much garlic in the guacamole it would have been perfect. I think people give a high rating because of the outside atmosphere, the good service plus they give huge portions of food but what good is that if it's not fresh and can be enjoyed.
In my opinion for the same price point, I would go to Burtons done the road. Food was hot, fresh, service was good and desserts were a 10/10 they actually make fresh desserts to try with their specials. Go to Burton's for a good treat, that's where we went after we left Sedona and we were quite pleased overall. They have a stuffed shrimp as well with pasta and it was soooo good.
Okay that's, the 411 on the Sedona. Just my opinion of course. We paid and did not complain as the food was not to our liking and we are big foodies and know when we are not getting quality. The resteraunt overall is not bad just need to eliminate some things that can not be executed well. 1 star for a great atmosphere and 1 star for good service, so 2...
