Had the worst experience here yesterday 8/30/24. My wife and I ordered lunch, sat down and patiently waited. About 40 minutes goes by and we start seeing people who ordered well after us get their food. So my wife goes up to inquire. First, we are lied to that the people we saw get their food ordered online. (we watched them order from the menu) Then we are told they never got our ticket, we showed our receipt and order. Then a group of employees huddle around the computer trying to to figure out how our order was missing. It's almost 3 o clock at this point so my wife just asks for the refund so we can go get food elsewhere. Finally get our money back and the staff member realizes we had our chip bag that was supposed to be with our sandwich (we ate most of them in the 40 minutes we waited for food.) She goes, well you have to pay for your chips. Lol. I was pretty blown away. No apologies, not a single offer to make anything right. Just you have to pay for your chips and about 8 staff members staring at us while we left. Been eating here over 20 years, more than likely...
Read moreI've been eating Mike's for over 20 years and I'll keep going back. I don't live in the area anymore, but I try to get a Mike's sandwich (#42) every time I'm in Chelsea. The ingredients are high quality. Prices are competitive when you take the quality of the food into account. The staff is friendly. Give a tip and you'll see! I love the mural on the wall highlighting Chelsea landmarks. If you go for the first time, you need to grab a menu (and maybe sit down) before you get in line. There's DOZENS of choices. Hours of operation are limited. Be sure to check to see if they're open. The only downside to going to Mike's Deli is finding a place to park. Parking in downtown Chelsea is HORRIBLE. There's a few of public parking lots but they're always full. Usually there's parking available in the public parking lot next to the library 2 blocks away. Be prepared to get your steps in. In summary, go to Mike's Deli and you'll get a great sandwich from great people for a great price. Just be ready to go through a gauntlet...
Read moreIt's official, Mike's is no longer what it was. We've been eating there for years, our favorite Deli west of Zingerman's. Today, I was told they no longer have green peppers so my wife's Taylor Made would be without them. They didn't mention that the marinated mushrooms were also gone and we didn't notice until we got it home. My sandwich, a Renaissance, had to be made on Rye because they were out of sub rolls. I'll say that again, Mike's Deli was out of sub rolls. OK, I'll try it on Rye. I get home and then discover a large piece of prosciutto that is all fibrous tendon, completely unchewable. The sad thing is, we paid almost $20 for these two disappointments. So sad to see a Chelsea icon sliding...
