Food: The only good food here is on the Dim Sum menu, some sea food dishes, the rest is so-so and nothing too memorable. Too much variety significantly affected the quality of the dishes.
Service: Ok service, staff speaks some English, so the conversations don’t go very far. But overall, they are friendly and attentive.
The reason why I gave 2 stars (for service), will never return as a customer & won’t recommend this restaurant (we have dined here multiple times):
After paying in cash, dissatisfied with the service this time, we only tipped $5 ($87/2 people) (normally, we tip 20% or more). The waiter came back with the full amount + tip, and pointed at the suggested tip % at the bottom of the receipt, essentially telling me to tip accordingly.
This is without asking for the reason behind the low amount (which I’m happy to provide an explanation). I told him tipping is not mandatory in New Jersey, the amount reflects the service received & the customer can chose to leave gratuity of any amount.
The waiter then turn around & walked away without saying anything else, left full check amount + tip on the table.
I didn’t want to escalate so I added $10 and talked to a younger waiter about what just happened. He was listening unlike the other waiter, which was very nice of him. But I also let him know that we won’t return as customers again.
This was not a big deal. However, we eat here out of convenience and preference, not necessity. In the same plaza, there are other restaurants to choose from. Like how restaurants don’t serve 1 customer, the customers have other restaurants to bring their business to.
I used to work in the service industry as well. Confronting a customer about tips is hardly ever worth it, considering there are other...
Read moreCame here on a Sunday with the family and decide to give this place a try. It did not disappoint.
We decided to sample a variety of dim sum items, and each dish was pretty good. The Har Gow (shrimp dumplings) were delicate and flavorful, with perfectly steamed wrappers that held just the right amount of tender shrimp. The Shiu Mai (pork dumplings) were equally delightful, packed with savory goodness and a hint of sweetness.
The rice rolls were smooth and silky, with a generous filling that added a satisfying bite. The pan-fried buns had a wonderfully crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy inside that made them irresistible. The turnip cakes were well-seasoned and had a nice, crispy texture on the outside while being tender on the inside. As for the scallion pancakes, they were light, flaky, and full of flavor—a great accompaniment to the other dishes.
Every item we tried was on point, with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors that really stood out. The variety of offerings ensured that there was something for everyone, and the overall experience was one that I would definitely want to repeat.
Brother Seafood Chinese Restaurant is now a go-to spot for me whenever I'm craving quality dim sum. If you're in the Cherry Hill area and looking for a place that serves delicious, authentic dim sum, this restaurant should be at the top of your list. I'll definitely be coming...
Read moreI have been here a few times for dim sum and dinner, but the food quality has gotten worse and worse. I went in for dim sum this morning, and the food came quickly after placing the order. Ha Gaw - the shrimp was dried, and the skin was also mushy. Siu Mai - tasted exactly like the frozen package you can order from Weee. Chicken feet (Fung Jao) - came as a whole chicken feet with black bean instead of being cut into two pieces. Pan fried dumpling - the dough wasn’t crispy and I don’t know what kind of meat filling it was, it tasted disgusting. Beef ball - lack of texture, way too much corn starch or marinated powder to soften the meat, perhaps, it is another frozen product that did not make it in house. The service was not good, and the waiters were not attentive, except for putting food on the table or dropping off the check. No one cleaned up the empty plates, and I only stopped eating for 10 seconds to look at my phone. The waiter just put the check and to-go containers on the table without asking if we wanted anything else. There are a lot of comments about the food is good and authentic for this restaurant, then you probably never had real authentic Cantonese cuisine except being in south jersey. The price I am paying, I could’ve eaten it in New York or Philly for better quality food...
