The ordering process for getting a cake here was absolutely terrible, but the cake turned out beautiful and was delicious. I called and asked to place an order about two weeks before I needed a cake. I gave all my information, date for pickup, picked a size of cake, and gave payment information over the phone. The gentleman who took my order advised me that I could get writing and flowers included in the base cost (and I gave him what I wanted written on the cake for sure) but that I could also get a quote for custom design by emailing them. I agreed to the base price but also emailed my event invitation for a “design quote”. I heard back from the designer once questioning my order to which I responded back and then got radio silence. This led me to call the Thursday before my Sunday event and I was advised that a manager would be in touch the next day. I spoke to the manager and apparently my order was never actually “placed”. I referred her back to the name of the gentleman who took my order and still was advised I didn’t have a cake. She then had to check to make sure they could accommodate my cake on such short notice. They did accommodate me and placed my order this time (asking all the same questions I was originally asked). Then my husband picked up the cake on the day of the event and they briefly couldn’t find it. The cake itself turned out beautifully decorated and tasted even better so that definitely was not an issue, but the ordering process would make me wary of ordering from...
Read moreHORRIBLE! I ordered a 10inch cake that was supposed be chocolate cake, chocolate icing, & salted caramel filling.. The cake filling tasted overwhelmingly like coffee/mocha & the chocolate icing was bland. After meeting with one of the store managers & bringing several slices of leftover cake into the bakeshop to allow them to taste their own mistake they basically told me that I was delusional & the cake filling was definitely salted caramel.. I spent $85 on that cake & after days of talking to managers I demanded a 50% refund for all the trouble.. My last resort was contacting the main office in Philly, where the owner of Classic Cakes offered me a $85 store credit. I politely declined the offer & let him know that I wouldnt be a customer there any longer.. Boy, he was not happy to hear that! The owner reluctantly agreed to giving me the 50% refund right before hanging up the phone in my ear.. I highly suggest sample tasting before ordering from this bakery to save yourself the money & disappointment.. But on a lighter note, the fake cakes that were set up on display throughout the store were very impressive, good thing no one has...
Read moreThe Cherry Hill location is not even close to open. I ordered a cake, they told me to pick it up "Outside the store." Got to the "store" (which is just an empty room in a strip mall) and there was a sign telling me to go to another address. Like a dope, I went, and it was someone's house 20 minutes away. Spent a good part of the afternoon on a wild cake-chase and came home with nothing. Do yourself a favor, get a cake somewhere else.
Update: Classic Cakes left me a message saying they called me but at the wrong number. They said that we're, in fact, having people picking up cakes at the owner's house, and that I could still do that. The problem is that when you order a cake for a special occasion, time is kind of important, and I had already ordered a cake from a bakery that's actually operational. I don't care how good their cakes are, I...
