The first time I came here was around dec 2020 on Sunday. I get Sunday’s are usually busy and around dinner time. However, we (party of 2) waited for over an hour for our food. The first 20 mins past by, I was understanding the fact listed above. The second 20 mins pasted, I was entertained by the football game on their broken tv monitor so I wasn’t that mad. I then took notice that many Uber eats, doordash ordered have came and went with their food. That’s when I realize that they prioritize the phone/online ordered before the sit in guests who are supporting their business with dining in. Nevertheless the food came out finally and it was not bad. We forgot about the incident. Today we came by for lunch. There were 3 tables. Only 2 packed bags of doordash. We placed our order as soon as tea was served. 20 mins pasted and many to go ordered have been prepared, packed and picked up. I became impatient and when the waiter came out with our “appetizer”, we asked how much longer for our food. She answered, “this is appetizer, so 10 more mins for your food” and left. We then got annoyed because who is she to determine if the “appetizer” is our “appetizer”? We ordered Bon chon wings- most would consider that an entree. Then we signaled her back and asked her to cancel the rest of our orders and she left to tell the manager/owner who is a relatively young tall Asian male. He came back with our check in hand and a defense before we were able to gather our thoughts. He had a whole speech ready to deliver. I said we waited 30 mins, he corrected with just 20 mins. He tells me his restaurant is super busy and although there are only a few tables they have a lot of phone orders for pick up. He also said at times there can we a wait of up to 1 hour at his restaurant. I didn’t feel the need to argue with him because I don’t think he cares for this one couple’s support since he has so many to go orders. He was not apologetic nor have any regards for my negative opinion. Well I would Like to say that if we come in first we should be served first and our food should be ready before many who called in after.
I will Not be...
Read moreGreat food, the rest is meh. The food is top notch and I'll never give this place a bad review on the food. But the service and location are dysfunctional.
First off, it was 20 degrees outside. So every time someone opened the door there was a blast of cold air into the restaurant. With this spot being as popular as it is, maybe it's time for a bigger location?
The other night, I was there with a party of six. We were seated a few minutes after our reservation. No big deal. After being seated, the server took our order and all was well. The small plates came out and we all enjoyed some kimchi while we waited for our food. After about 20-30 minutes, the food came out. The only problem was my order didn't come out. The server said at least twice "don't worry, it's coming out, I'll check". 15 minutes later, another staff member asked if my food had come out (which was obvious as I didn't have a plate), to which I said "nope!". Another 30 minutes went by and my food finally came out. Now the rest of our dinner party was done and I'm just getting start on a Dolsot, which we all know takes like 10 minutes to cool off enough to eat.
All told, it took more than hour from being seated to get my food. There really wasn't an effort to make sure we were ok, no offer to comp the very late entre, no "we're really sorry" or anything. So, they're losing 2 stars for really poor service and a dining experience that was very unsatisfying. Your...
Read moreI drove 40 min each way to come eat here because of the stellar google reviews. Very disappointed and such waste of time driving here to eat. I noticed all customers here are non-Koreans. It is my belief that these people haven’t tasted what a real good Korean food should be. Bancha aka the side dishes - they didn’t have the typical bean sprouts or black beans for example, and when I asked for refills of broccoli, I was told they are limited and I would have to pay extra for refills. I’ve never heard of such things in a real Korean place. Galbi was full of fatty meat. The ones I had in Fort Lee was all quality, lean and big pieces of meat. This place is either bones or fats, very unsatisfying. Tofu soup wasn’t even hot enough that my egg never got cooked. I ended up eating a raw egg after leaving it in the soup for long time. Never had this problem at other Korean restaurants. The beef in the tofu soup was all ground meat, not the thin slices of beef that is supposed to be.
This place is stingy, skimpy on the quality and ingredients of food. They may be doing well with the non-Koreans, but will not survive if competing with real authentic Korean food. For foodies who have a bit of standards, don’t bother with this place. If distance is not an issue, go to Fort Lee for some authentic...
