Tortilla Press Cantina — Restaurant in Cherry Hill Township

I’ll start by saying they have a very reasonable happy hour, which was the reason for our visit this afternoon. We walked into the bar area and were hit with a very unpleasant odor. We sat at the bar and ordered our drinks, a margarita and a beer. The margaritas are not made to order, rather a pre-made mixture which is disappointing. We ordered our food, and while we were waiting for our food I watched in disbelief a mouse run from the dining area to behind the bar. While I am sure there are many places I dine on a regular basis that have mice here and there, I have never seen one so close to me. The bartender came out with our food and I informed her and she responded with “I will let the managers know” followed by another comment that led me to believe this is a common problem and not the first complaint. She went to the back and came back out to let us know she had reported it. No manager ever came out to apologize. My boyfriend and I were disgusted so we ate a few bites of our meals and wanted to leave. She was apologetic and probably embarrassed and it’s not her fault. Having worked in the business, We should have been approached by a higher up. We then began to look around at all the other visible dirt and grime surrounding the bar, including flies and dust. We’ve been here several times before where they leave chips and salsa sitting behind the bar.. imagine the flies landing on them.. or the mouse that may have ran across that surface prior to their opening of the restaurant that day. Again, I understand mice happen from time to time, but to see one a few feet from me is a completely different story. UPDATE: Let me say that the owner of this place is a class act. After my review he reached out to me, apologized, and asked that I give it a second chance some time later. Let me say that he heard what I had to say. Everything was excellent. I visited late but prior to closing. Every thing was great. And was informed of the changes made to rectify the issues I experienced. I recommended this place before because of the food. Now I can recommend because of the bar personnel as well. They are there to please.

Let me start by saying the food is good but the service from one of the bartenders is terrible. Here's my example. The closing time listed on-line is 10pm. I walk in through THE BAR DOOR to an VERY unwelcoming "THE KITCHENS CLOSED!!" yelled at me at 9pm. Feeling total unwelcome and as if I'm being told to leave I press on to the bar (where I see others seated and drinking). If I want food I would have gone through the restaurant door. The proper way to address me is to welcome me (and my money) by saying something like 'Hello, would to like a drink?' and then if I ask for food AT THE BAR inform me that the kitchen is closed. This woman comes off 100 % rude. Hence why I give two stars because I want someone there to address this POOR welcoming. I realize you want to go home early. So did I when I left work that day. We have been coming here for years, and we’ve never been disappointed. Food is always delicious and plentiful! Tonight, we visited with our two children. Lucky for us it was kids eat free night. Extra bonus! My husband had a shrimp and bacon quesadilla that he found delicious. His only suggestion would be that it was cooked a little longer so that the tortilla was a little more crispy. Other than that he was pleased. I had a pork stuffed burrito with Mole’ sauce. It had a longer name but I can’t remember what that was. Boy it was full of flavor and I totally did not go hungry! Both my kids got nachos and while my daughter enjoyed hers very much, my son was less than pleased. He really just likes the plain chips. He’s kind of a picky eater but he does enjoy your restaurant for the chips. I tried to order the nachos with the cheese on the side but the waiter suggested against it. My son said next time we come he will insist that he gets just plain chips! LOL! In addition, since we hadn’t been there in a while I mentioned that we used to have some sort of rewards card for the restaurant. The waiter was nice and informed us that while they don’t honor the card anymore there is still a rewards program. He looked my information up and sure enough we already have enough points to redeem so that was a nice surprise!
