Chinese Gourmet Express — Restaurant in Chesapeake

I know I haven’t been able to goto the mall and get my bourbon chicken in months thanks to coronaV-19... But I just noticed some bad reviews on here. I can’t say these people didn’t have a bad experience, I wasn’t there... but I can and will say that me and my family’s favorite place to eat is here. The food is enough for your main meal with just enough left over for a late evening snack. Everything tastes SOoo good. I mean everything. I have eaten at many Chinese’s restaurants and takeout and NONE of them makes the flavored foods I’ve had like this place. My favorite is the bourbon chicken (so soft and tender meat with such a great flavored marinade sauce). Every body else has tough chicken and mildly sweet(if sweet). You get to choose 2 different meats and fried rice (get them to put the bourbon sauce in the rice too, muwww) and you still get another side which I always choose the fried potatoes...variety, flavor and low price $5.99.. no one can offer better. Me and my family go two to three times a month, which may sound like not much, but we only eat out on the weekends, so that means we pickup food there 3 out of the 4 weekends a month. Which is a lot.. I’m praying they stay running when the mall reopens, but I’m worried that won’t happen... that mall is not doing well. This place gets my whole family and many friends #1 place...

I order the food this morning when it just open from Doordash and when it arrive to our house it was cold. We don’t live far and been ordering food much further from places and never been cold so I came to the conclusion that they serve us left over. The general Tso, bourbon chicken, sesame chicken, lo mein, pepper shrimp, etc were all cold. They were not even season. And the bourbons chicken have a cigarette taste to it. The picture they use for Doordash was appealing but they are lying. It was one of the worst Chinese food ever. Love their bourbon chicken (regular and spicy), BUT we probably won't be back after today. Health department was there and pointing out many health violations, including not washing hands and not properly washing containers. We ordered drinks they have to make to order and after waiting forever, both of our drinks were made wrong and they didn't wash container between them so mine tasted like flowers aka jasmine. So disappointing because it was our fave chinese we've tried in the area. Wish them the best, but they need to take health...
