We usually eat here for lunch. The service is usually there for us during this time. We can sit down and order drinks or an appetizer very quickly. But last night we went here during dinner time. I was accommodating a few people who wanted Sichuanese. Don't get me wrong, the food here is the absolute Best! Food in the area for Sichuan. IMO. But I knew the service would be slow. Anyway, we didn't know it was going to be how it turned out to be. Our party was offered a table in the front, quickly the owner I believe, or the oldest one of them. Came and said no, and to seat us in the back at a booth. I told the lady that we were here to drink, she looked confused then sat us in the back booth.. after seated the waitress was already half way across the restaurant. I turned around and kept staring at them trying to get their attention but they never came back. Not for a very long time because of the capacity of customers. But then I realized that the older lady and the other "waitress" were both not doing anything at all to help our waitress that apparently was handling ALL THE TABLES 😱
I could not believe that they were being so mean to her. I assume they all are family, but either way I got the feeling that they did not care if the waitress was handled everything; drinks, orders, food retrieval,etc.. when she finally came back we ordered a lot of drinks, this took a long time again but she managed to make it back and she is so quick to turn around and she had people helping us at this time, finally. But we assumed the waters would be coming but by the time the older lady was leaving our table we noticed the routine was back in action. Later we finally got to order food and water and then once the food arrived we obviously enjoyed the food experience but we could have been doing that, and drinking normally before if they had accommodated our request in the beginning to drink and sit somewhere closer to being seen instead of the back. ( Also I would like to add, we weren't rowdy.)
I guess... What I'm trying to say is it made us a little bit sad, upset. We felt this to be unfair to be made to feel like we had to work to get every item ordered, but also we felt so very bad for our waitress and that she was going through that sort of work situation. We let her know we noticed 🥺
Please always tip...

I believe that Judy's Sichuan may be one of the best Chinese restaurants in Hampton Roads; their website claimed at the time of writing this review that they are ranked #1 in the state; I believe it... I couldn't critique them or their food... It was all fantastic, far beyond what I expected.
It's certainly the best Sichuan for sharing fantastic cuisine with friends or grabbing a quick lunch with colleagues.
This wasn't my first experience with this established local favorite; I'd been to their Virginia Beach location many years ago. Both visits I went for the "Diced Chicken with Chili & Pepper" and both times my palate went on a journey through the scorching gates and into an oasis of flavor. Only true spicy food lovers need apply, the amount of hidden flavors was an experience each time I encountered this perfected dish at Judy's Sichuan Cuisine.
We also had the good fortune of ordering the Hot and Sour Soup. It was sized enough for an entire table, and the wait staff packaged it up for us, to take home. Everyone was attentive and professional; it was a real treat.
When I took my first bite of the "Diced Chicken with Chilli and Pepper" I knew that artistry goes into making this cuisine... This is not your ordinary take out hole in the wall, it's much, much more.
Judy's Sichuan is perfect for dates, quick bites, meetings, sharing several meals with large groups (giant lazy Susans for sharing around the table with groups), or booking a party in their party room.
I am absolutely excited about this new location...
Read moreThis place is amazing. We have eaten here twice (dine in) and the food has been excellent both times. Highly recommend.
Food: we ordered the scallion pancake as an appetizer and it was fried perfectly. The texture was very nice. Make sure to use lots of the sauce they provide! Next we had the pork lettuce wraps. These were also very good. Could also add a little spice or sauce to these. For dinner we had the beer lomein. A basic Chinese food, but Judys was amazing. You can tell the quality of the food here is above and beyond other Chinese restaurants. The beef was delicious and plentiful. I also added a little spice which made it literally perfect. The second main dish we had was spicy chitlains. This was also delicious. Was not to spicy, but very good and something you don’t typically see on the menu. There is also a huge variety of food on the menu here. I can’t wait to try more!
Service: the service here is very good. They are attentive, polite and quick. You will see Judy herself walking around making sure everything about your meal is perfect.
Cost: the cost is about the same as normal Chinese takeout restaurants which is amazing because the quality is above and beyond. I am very happy with the costs here.
Restaurant: the decorations are very nice and the decor is pleasing. They did a very nice job and it is definitely a place you can go to have a nice meal. It also has a full bar and a private room for large parties.
We will definitely be back! Take a look at the pictures which speak...
