Benito's Trattoria — Restaurant in Chester

My friend and I went to Benito's Trattoria to have a relaxed dinner to catch up tonight. It is a rainly Wednesday, and the restaurant only had a few tables seated. Before my friend even got there, the waitstaff descended upon the table with hot bread and menus, and I was told that they closed at 7:30 p.m. (it was 6:30) When she arrived, the bread was cold, and it was no more than a couple minutes when another waitstaff appeared and wanted to take our order. I then told them that we were old friends and were in no rush. Despite that, our dinner orders were brought to the table when we weren't even halfway done with our salads. Our conversation was repeatedly interrupted several times during our meal by three separate waitstaff. The requisite dessert/coffee was offered at the end, and we told the server we wanted dessert, but would let them know when, we were too full. Again, a few minutes later, a server appeared with the dessert, which I sent away. Unbelievably, yet another server again appeared with our desserts several minutes later. At that point, I asked for the check, and said we did not appreciate being rushed out. Unfortunately, the food is wonderful, but just because it was a rainy weekday, and the staff wanted to leave early, is no excuse for trying to pressure the customers to leave. I waitressed for 5 years in my early twenties (one 4 star restaurant), and am always dismayed by how inappropriate some waitstaff can be. Doesn't matter how good the food is, what you remember is the service. I never leave any reviews, but thought the owner should know that his staff's behavior tonight is the reason he lost...

Food, service and atmosphere are always great! I don’t understand people who don’t like something and they come here leaving a bad review. You’re clearly trying to hurt small business owners and workers. Many of those people complain about waiting 1 hr to get the food. Of course you’re gonna wait, this is a dine-in restaurant, not a fast food place. If you wanna be served immediately, just walk to wendys. Restaurants have 250 costumers and only 1-2 or 3 chefs in the kitchen. You’re not more important than the rest of costumers there. Just relax and enjoy your time out. You don’t go into a restaurant to watch which waiter has an attitude. I used to be a waiter for years, and i know that those poeple serving you, are not robots, they all have their days. Stop spilling hate for a bus buy/girl who just started working and doesn’t remember you “deserve” a 5 star service. I never ever had an issue in Benitos, but even if i did, i would never come here and try to hurt them. They throw 12 hours a day, 6 days a week of work to make a living and pay the bills. If you don’t like something, just don’t go back, there’s plenty of restaurant in the area.

Fabulous a must put on your list ! Authentic prepared made to order dishes. Located conveniently in the heart of beautiful Chedter NJ. Started with Brevada salad absolutely delicous. Next eggplant stuffed Parmasean appetizer prepared to perfection, Rigatoni bolonese was divine. Iorder the special which was succulent shrimp on top of bass swimming in a buttery cream garlic sauce accompanied by fresh French cut green beans and a small puffed potatoes. To die for ! My friend ordered chicken francais perfect with fresh green beans.We had to take our main meals to go as overindulgence cost us. But we had to try perfectly brewed coffee ☕ and the special Raspberry cheesecake which we spilt! The restaurant was packed for a Wednesday night. The weather was so nice most diners ate outside. John the owner was a classy host proud of his success. This is a MUST go . Make reservations to this elegant upscale gourmet restaurant 😋. Bring your own choice of libations. Even there was a 10 star Google rating I would definitely give John and our server Daniel who was dressed up and classy 10 stars. All that food was under 150 for 2.
