Excellent food and service. Everything was rich in flavor, salt nor pepper was needed on anything. Due to current world situation everything was take away, a few tables outside are available and worked out fine; even if the number of tables is limited to 3, (this is hardly their fault). I was very impressed with the take away containers. Hardy and durable. When getting some good solid Southern eats the last thing you would want is a flimsy styrofoam box that sends the delicious food onto the floor and all over you. The containers at Mr. B's are solid and have dividers for additional structural support and keeping the food from touching, (if this is an issue for you). The cutlery provided also was not flimsy.
I am looking forward to coming back and maybe trying one of the delicious looking desserts. I had the Meatloaf and it was rich with texture and a variety of complimentary flavors. Good string beans and mashed potatoes that were so good that no butter or any additional seasoning was needed at all. GF had mac and cheese which she made short work of, before I could ask for a taste, but they do come highly recommended. Overall a pleasant experience and very good, the food was filling without feeling like a lead weight in the stomach. Additionally, there was a lot of business taking away their late lunch or Sunday Supper. Everyone was friendly. I think we were all excited about getting some great Mr. B's...
Read moreAs a local workaholic, I'm always on the hunt for the best dining experiences, and recently, I had the pleasure of trying out Mr. B's Take Out, a local soul food restaurant that has been generating quite a buzz. While I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, I have to say that the food was just okay and could use a little more perfecting.
First of all, the cozy vibes at Mr. B's Take Out are absolutely delightful. The restaurant has a welcoming feel that makes you feel right at home, with alot of natural lighting and friendly staff who make you feel like family. However, while the atmosphere was inviting, I couldn't help but feel a little let down by the food.
Don't get me wrong, the food at Mr. B's Take Out wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't quite live up to the hype. Some dishes were a hit while others were a miss, and the consistency of the dishes could use some improvement. However, there were a few standouts on the menu, like the deliciously creamy carrot souffle and the mouth-watering desserts.
Despite the inconsistencies in the food, the friendly staff and cozy atmosphere made my experience at Mr. B's Take Out enjoyable. With a little more attention to perfecting their dishes and maintaining consistency, I believe this restaurant could truly live up to its potential and keep the crowds coming...
Read moreOkay. I tried to avoid giving this black business 1 star; however enough time has passed for Mr. B’s and/or Uber Eats to rectify the mistake and refund me for the item (Beef Short Ribs meal) that they notified me (and the delivery driver) that they don’t have. They told the delivery driver they would refund me for the item since I didn’t request/approve a replacement. There are clearly 3 containers instead of 4 in that bag. This is FRAUD and predatory to advertise items on your menu knowing you don’t have them available, yet still charging customers for. ESPECIALLY in this economy. No good comes to bad business such as this. I also included a picture of their “chopped steak” which is just a frozen beef patty with no seasoning and tasted just like the container it came in. I left a review yesterday but took it back, because the owner (somehow) responded to my review rather quickly…but didn’t put the same energy into rightfully giving me the refund of almost $30.00.
The fact that they charge MORE on uber eats menu ($27.49) vs. their online/in-store price ($24.99) is another red flag about this businesses predatory behavior. I am extremely offended. I will continue to support black businesses but...
