The Original George's Gyros Spot — Restaurant in Chesterton

Tried George's for the first time tonight while In town vacationing. Ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. I have to say for $9 it was nothing that stood out. Kinda had high hopes too! It was ok but on the smaller size compared to the other restaurant up the road. Chopped chicken with a buffalo sauce. Nothing stood out to make it taste any different than anywhere else. Aside from it being smaller. It did come with fries but I didn't see a $9 price point with tax. Maybe $5.99 or $6.99. We also had a cheeseburger. Extra charge for cheese and tomato of course. It looked like a slab of beef out of a box. Over $7 with cheese. Nothing special there either. Seemed kinda high for what you got. Maybe locals are used to it and they rave about it! Sorry I just didn't see the hype! Close to $19 for two people no drinks. I'd maybe try it again but try something else. We got take out but it does look nice inside and they have a drive thru and online ordering so some points for that.

Pretty upset. After reading so many great reviews about this place I was let down. Ordered for dinner last night and everything was not to our expectation. My husband and I both ordered a gyro well done , the meat was so cold I can tell it wasn’t even put on the griddle to be cooked and just cut straight off of the spinner. I know this because I’ve worked at a similar restaurant . My mother ordered a chicken pita with mozzarella cheese there was no cheese which we were charged for . My dad ordered a Italian combo had no flavor what so ever. Fries were hard and no flavor. I understand it was half an hour until closing time and it was busy but come on we’re paying YOU To make our food right so we can enjoy and want to be able to be returning customers. Such a waste of money. Sadly we won’t...

My husband and I stopped here this evening for a late dinner and we heard great things so we figured we would try it. My husband got some shrimp and a burger, as well as chili fries and I got the cod basket with cheese fries. The food was mostly hot so I dont really have a complaint there...a word of advice would be to get the cheese sauce on the side so it won't make the fries cold when you open the box. The cod was pretty good and my husband was very satisfied with his meal. I did find everything got cold fast though. The worst part was the garlic bread though...it smelled like heaven but when I bit into it the taste was more like burnt garlic than anything. It was so bitter I couldn't even finish the bite I took. All in all. I'd give them another chance but this first impression...
