After a long hiatus and suddenly having a craving for takeout, i decided to hit up Star garden as it was my go-to like 2 years ago and had a pretty disappointing experience, i made an order over call was told it'd be ready in 45 mins (no problem) dude over the phone was a bit rude (bit disrespectful), when i got there several other people were waiting to pick up their orders which increased waiting time (not a problem and completely understandable when there's a pandemic) however it was pretty crowded with lack of social distancing (as in 2 peeps standing less than a foot away from me), and when i finally got up to the desk, was told it'd be ready in an additional 5-10 mins, long-story short, ended up waiting over an hour for my food - which was pretty pricey and way more than it should've been after looked at the menu and running up a subtotal of $28.65 (before tax) prior to calling and ending up with spending a total of $35.14 (would've checked it, but i was pretty tired of waiting), the fantail shrimp was too heavy on batter/wasn't fully cooked, dumplings were slightly burnt, the shrimp in my general tso's 3 was partially undercooked, the soup was pretty good even though it wasn't the soup i had ordered, i used to love coming here, Unfortunately, i don't think i'll be coming back...
Read moreThis was our go-to place for Chinese food in Brodheadsville and surrounding communities. I say because here is what I feel are their short comings. The hospitals in our area have relaxed masked requirements as well as other businesses. This place is equal to Ft Knox. Plexiglass over what was the front door with a cheap baby monitor to provide communication with the workers on the inside. Prices have gone up (understandable), but they no longer provide fortune cookies. We ordered meals for 6 people and asked for packets of soy and duck sauce. When I got home, there were 4 soy and 3 duck sauce. On the good side, I have learned to make wonton soup and chicken fried rice. Also thanks to YouTube I am making other Chinese items. Also, when I make my own, everything I want is at home, and I don't have call and tell them items where missing...
Read moreI’m from NY and used to live near China Town. although this is mandarin - The food is always amazing. I appreciate how COVID safe it is! They’re always so pleasant. My regular spot.
Update 2023: I used to love this place. Today we ordered two sesame chicken combos , lo mein and crab Rangoon $40! I was blown away by the price. When I got home I found two containers of just sesame chicken and a container of white rice. Who orders sesame chicken that’s not the combo? And without egg rolls or fried rice? When I called she said I didn’t say combo but I did and she didn’t ask combo or not. I have ordered sesame chicken a million times in life. I’ve never heard of anyone ordering it alone without fried rice lol. Ruined my dinner order and it was so expensive. Next time we’ll go to buffet or just order pizza....
