Beck's Chicago — Restaurant in Chicago

We were in the area and looking for a place to eat. Pequods was out - packed, reservations needed to be made hours easier. Saw what looked like a dive bar on the corner, so was initially turned off. Looked up reviews which were mostly good, so decided to try it. The place is much larger than it looks from the outside. You step right into the bar, but it stretches way back and there's lots of tables in a big room, plus a nice outdoor patio.

We were greeted by the bartenders as soon as we walked in and they said we could sit anywhere. We chose to sit on the patio. A friendly server took our drink and appetizer order right away.

We didn't order food til later and by then we had another server, who seemed too busy and had way too many tables. Dunno what happened to our first server. I had a burge with waffle sweet potato friesr; my husband and son both had the steak wraps. Our appetizer - cheese curds- were average-good. My burger was good, though again, nothing exciting. Wish they'd upgrade the bun. Waffle sweet potato fries had a great taste but they were served cold. My son's tots were just your everyday frozen ones.

I also had a couple of Bloody Mary's: I told the first server mild spice and it was served as asked and was delicious. The 2nd one, I told the other server mild spice and it ca.e out super spicy, so I don't know what...

Overall pretty disappointed with my visit today. I ordered a Lincoln Square salad that was supposed to come with spring mix, chicken, radishes, shaved red onion, mozzarella cheese, and croutons. The salad brought to be had spring mix, chicken, diced white onion (raw), mozzarella cheese, and croutons. After going up and explaining I think my salad is missing some things, I was told they were out of red onion. I asked if I could just get the radishes and some tomatoes. two minutes later, I was told they are out of radishes too. I would not have ordered this salad if I knew ahead of time, but no one told me and no one checked on us once food arrived. I also ordered a side of fries and was brought a basket - if they didn’t have sides, that’s fine, I just wish they would’ve said it before I ordered (and was charged for) a full basket. I went here with my husband and friend and will definitely be coming back!

My husband had the garlic buffalo wings and the parmesan garlic wings. The skin was nice and crispy on the wings. The meat could have been juicer, but it was still good. He said they are the best wings he's found in Chicago. The buffalo sauce was unique and didn't taste like Frank's red hot either!

My friend had a patty melt and loved it. The bread was crispy, the hamburger well seasoned and flavorful, and the side of tater tots brought the meal together.

I had the Beck's burger. It was fabulous. One of the best burgers I had in a while. The fries were also crispy and fresh. I wish they had a bigger selection on tap. It was all lagers and IPAs but I'm a fan of ciders.
