Bonchon Restaurant in Chicago is a gem of culinary delight that I highly recommend. From the moment I stepped through the door, We were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's stylish and modern decor created a pleasant dining ambiance. Now, let's talk about the food. Bonchon is renowned for its Korean fried chicken, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was delicious, a crispy exterior and juicy, tender meat. The flavors were simply outstanding. Whether you prefer the classic Soy Garlic or the fiery Spicy flavor, each bite was a burst of deliciousness. Let's start with the Pork Potstickers. These bite-sized dumplings were perfectly cooked and had a delightful combination of tender pork filling and a crispy exterior. Each bite was bursting with spicy flavor, and the balance of savory and slightly sweet notes complemented the dumplings beautifully, making it hard to resist reaching for another one. Next up were the Chicken Strips, the chicken strips were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and had a delightful hint of spice. The sauce, which danced perfectly with the chicken, was a standout. It had just the right amount of heat to give it a kick without overpowering the flavors of the chicken. The combination of tender chicken and the addictive sauce created a winning flavor combination that had me craving for more. My experience at Bonchon was fantastic and is a must-visit for food enthusiasts. The combination of superb Korean fried chicken, delightful starters, and exceptional service make it a standout dining destination. Whether you're a fan of bold flavors or simply appreciate well-executed dishes, Bonchon will leave you craving for more. Don't miss the opportunity to indulge in a truly satisfying dining experience at...
Read moreIf you are looking for Korean chicken wings for delivery, this is a fantastic option. I first ate at this restaurant pre-COVID and it became my #1 favorite place for spicy Korean chicken wings. Post-COVID, even with delivery, it still delivers (pun intended) on the flavor.
The meals are well-packaged in strong containers. None of that weak-sauce packaging here. I asked for utensils and was pleasantly surprised to see forks, chopsticks, and plenty of napkins.
*PRO TIP: if you are ordering through the app (or phone, etc), ask for extra plates! We ate out of the containers, which isn’t a big deal, but since we were staying at a hotel, it would’ve been clutch to have some extra plates to eat from.
The food itself came surprisingly hot and the wings were still crunchy. Admittedly, it’s not the exact magic that occurs when you dine in, but that’s to be expected. It’s a strong offering for delivery.
By the way, I LOVE spicy foods and see myself as being able to handle the spice well. These spicy wings are pretty spicy. Not the spiciest ever, but it makes you think you maybe order an “extra spicy” version or something. It’s VERY flavorful and delicious, but just be warned: it’s spicy.
In short, if you are craving some Korean chicken wings for delivery (or any Korean cuisine for that matter) Bonchon prepares the food quickly, packages it well, and the flavors are well-preserved compared to its in-person offering. Although I would prefer to dine-in, I also wouldn’t hesitate to order delivery again when the...
Read moreShould’ve listened to the review I saw last week that said the chicken was salty BECAUSE IT WAS- it really was. That’s on me for giving this place the benefit of the doubt. The chicken tasted more like salty batter than actual meat. If you like chewing on seasoned crust and pretending there’s chicken inside, this might be for you. The water is straight up tap water. Maybe that’s normal in Chicago?? I don’t know as I’m not from there. But pairing salted chicken with tap water? Not exactly my dream flavor combo. Service was... fine? Not great. I dropped the little plate they give you when you sit down (yes, totally my fault- FYI it did not break) The staff saw, heard, and decisively chose to do absolutely nothing.. because everyone around us saw and heard and it’s a small area. But no offer to replace it.. I guess I was just meant to vibe with the germs. :D We went around 9 PM, so yes, it was packed. That’s fair. But apparently here, even while you're stuck waiting, you’re not allowed to look at the menu? Not sure how that helps anyone. Seems like an odd choice for a busy restaurant… wouldn't it make sense to let your next customers know what they want before they sit down? We also tried the japchae, which was... there. I’ve had better. The sauce wasn’t properly mixed?? The noodles ended up tasting soggy and separate like two parts of a dish that hadn’t quite met yet.
Would I go back? Let’s just say I’ll be listening to...
