L&D Handmade is one of the worst businesses I’ve ever come across. They try to cover up the truth by deleting honest negative reviews, which only shows how much they care more about appearances than fixing real problems. The boss has a superiority complex and runs the place in a toxic way. The environment is full of microaggressions, policies are only enforced when workers of color are involved, while others get away with the same behavior. It’s extremely unfair and harmful.
Most of the employees here are teens, and the management clearly takes advantage of that. They know younger workers are less likely to speak up or push back, so they pile on stress and treat them poorly, which is completely unacceptable. No business should exploit young people just to get cheap labor while creating such a toxic atmosphere.
On top of that, the male boss constantly interrupts customers, trying to push products and promote the store when most people just want to browse in peace. It feels pushy, uncomfortable, and unprofessional, especially when paired with the ridiculously overpriced items they try so hard to hype up.
Between the toxic work environment, discriminatory practices, exploitation of young workers, and shady business tactics, this is not a place worth supporting. And if they delete this review like they have with others, it only proves the point further. At some point, they’ll have to face the truth about how badly they run things. Save your money and take your business somewhere that actually values people...
Read moreAs a mom, I’m always looking for activities that are fun for both me and my kids. L&D Handmade in Chinatown was such a wonderful find! The shop is colorful, full of sparkly charms, cute accessories, and handmade treasures. It honestly feels like stepping into a little craft wonderland. ✨ What made it special for us: Each of my kids got to make their own purses. They picked their favorite charms from hundreds of options (stones, stars, hearts, and more!) and the staff patiently guided them through the process. The staff was so welcoming and encouraging. My kids were so proud of what they made, and we got to take home special keepsakes. The best part was watching my kids focus, laugh, and show off their creations.💖 It’s upstairs in Chinatown, so don’t miss it! It’s definitely going to become one of our regular spots. If you’re looking for something unique to do with your kids, I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s creative, memorable, and just...
Read moreAdorable and cheerful shop with a great vibe! Worth the climb up to the second level. It was very busy on a Sunday night so we weren’t able to take advantage of the beading room, but the Labubu accessories were extensive. Staff were very helpful with locating the costumes my daughter was looking for. Items were priced at or less than Etsy prices. Went in looking for Chicago sports themed hats and were a little disappointed to find LA or NY only but did find some cute shirts, accessories and Halloween costumes. We had a...
