Tucked away in the vibrant bustle of Chinatown's strip lies Matcha En, a cozy haven for dessert aficionados.. Despite its diminutive size, this quaint spot buzzes with energy, perpetually filled with eager patrons seeking a taste of its delectable offerings. Upon entering, one is enveloped in the sweet aroma of freshly brewed matcha and the comforting scent of baked treats, setting the stage for a delightful culinary experience. During my recent visit to Matcha En, I couldn't resist indulging in their famed Chocolate Crepe Cake—a decision I certainly didn't regret. As I eagerly awaited my order, I couldn't help but admire the intimate ambiance, enhanced by soft lighting and minimalist décor, creating an inviting atmosphere perfect for savoring decadent desserts. Finally, my dessert arrived, presented with elegant simplicity yet promising a burst of flavor with each bite. The Chocolate Crepe Cake stood tall, boasting an impressive assembly of at least 20 delicate layers of crepes generously interspersed with velvety chocolate ganache. Topped with a cloud-like dollop of whipped cream and adorned with delicate Hershey's Kisses chocolates, it was a sight to behold. With the first forkful, I was transported to a realm of pure indulgence. The crepes, expertly layered and impeccably moist, melted seamlessly on my tongue, revealing a symphony of rich chocolate flavors that danced harmoniously with the luscious ganache. Each bite was a delightful interplay of textures, with the airy whipped cream providing a refreshing contrast to the dense, fudgy cake layers. As I savored the last crumbs of my indulgence, I couldn't help but appreciate the charm of Matcha En. Beyond its delectable offerings, it's a place that exudes warmth and hospitality—a haven where one can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and indulge in moments of sweet bliss. Whether you're a devoted dessert enthusiast or simply seeking a cozy retreat, Matcha En is sure to leave a...
Read moreI don't like to bother to give a bad review as I usually just don't return to a location if it didn't work out for me. However, I take issue with businesses that serve dairy alternatives but don't actually know how to make a drink safe for people who ask for no dairy. 🙃 At least 70% of the world has issues digesting dairy so if you're going to offer dairy free alternatives then make sure that the drink is actually dairy free. We ordered a strawberry matcha latte with almond milk and we also made sure to add that the drink contain no dairy and as we watched them make the drink we saw them pour evaporated milk (which is worse than just milk if you're lactose intolerant) into our drinks. We kindly asked what it was and we were told that the drink comes with evaporated milk....cool. If it was listed somewhere we wouldn't have ordered it and I don't see the point in offering dairy alternatives if you're going to pour dairy in the drink anyway. Aside from that I never took issue with the service or the wait. They did kindly remake our drink. As I said there is a large market of people who can't consume dairy and as a business they need to be more responsible about this. If you're lactose intolerant/looking out for your health/ or vegan you might want to stick to the just the matcha lemonade as it seems that the dairy alternatives don't seem to be served with the lactose...
Read moreSome quick notes about this place: really small and packs up quickly. If there are any tables open, claim it quickly. There is a kiosk on the wall to the right immediately next to the entrance if you want to take your time looking through the menu where you can also pay and put in your name for your order to be called. Otherwise, order at the counter. Service was rather quick. This place will also validate your parking, just ask when you pay at the counter or when you pickup your order. I ordered the Strawberry Cap Cake and the Strawberry Smoothie. Warning ⚠️ about the Strawberry Cap Cake - while the cake itself was a nice fluffy vanilla sponge, the pink strawberry cream is infused with a light floral rose flavor. It was not overwhelming, and I really enjoyed it. Just a heads up for non-floral taste lovers. As for the strawberry smoothie, it was just okay. It was a basic light strawberry shake at best. Nothing I jump with joy to order again. Overall, I would like to return but order one of the...
