We planned to eat at a different restaurant, but because the waiting time was long, we decided to eat here so we wouldn't have to wait. However, we don't think we will return to this restaurant because of the bad experience. The food was not as delicious as we expected, and the service attitude was not good. The restaurant space is small. Our dining area in the back is also small, so when walking in or out, it's easy to bump into the next table. Once in, they will show you how to see their online menu. But if you don't have your phone or the network connection is problematic, you won't be able to see their menu and can't order. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE EXPERIENCED. When my family and friends tried to access the online menu page but couldn't because the network connection wasn't strong enough, we asked for the paper menus but the staff said THEY DON'T HAVE/USE THE PAPER MENU, ONLY THE ONLINE MENU. After that, we asked for the wifi to access the menu, and the staff said HE DOESN'T KNOW THE WIFI, HE DOESN'T KNOW THE PASSWORD, then turned away and didn't return. That day, the staff did not move to assist or ask other staff to help us. Luckily, we used different network operators, and 3/8 phones still worked, so we shared with others to look at the menu to order. Think about it, if I only go alone or with 1-2 people and the network outages, what should we do? Get up, go away, and never come back? It had somewhat affected our experience at this restaurant. About the food, we ordered 9 dishes (6 Ramen, 2 Rice bowls, and 1 Tsukemen). Only 2 were good and the other 2 were so-so. Most dishes were too salty for us. When paying, the staff will not inform you in advance that there is an automatic gratuity charge. In the most of restaurants we went to, this fee would be written on the table, menu or staff would inform the customer, even though we go with 2-4 people or 8-10 people. But here, I did not notice any clear note and the staff did not mention it until I carefully reviewed the bill.
**I think restaurants should prepare paper menus so they can assist customers when needed. The online menu is not a bad thing, I think it's good. However, what if there is a power outage, no wifi, or network outage? What if the customer doesn't bring their smartphone, or they run out of battery? The restaurant should find a solution so that other customers do not have to go through a bad experience like my family and my friends.
**I don't know if there was anything unpleasant going on that day or not for that waiter. However, I think the staff/waiter should not let their emotions and personal issue affect their work, restaurant, or customer experience. If the staff member cannot help/answer the guest's question, they can ask another staff or manager...

I recently dinned at Strings 2 Ramen in Chicago, it was an absolute delight for my taste buds! From the moment I walked in, the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made me feel right at home. But it was the delectable flavors and attention to detail that truly stole the show.
One of the standout dishes that I simply have to rave about is their Hell Sauce. As a spice enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for something that sets my taste buds on fire, and this sauce did not disappoint! The perfect balance of heat and flavor, it added a tantalizing kick to my ramen that took the dish to a whole new level. If you're a fan of spicy food, don't miss out on trying this fiery masterpiece!
Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the Shoyu Vegetable Ramen. As a vegetarian, I appreciate when a restaurant offers delicious and satisfying options for non-meat eaters, and Strings 2 Ramen hit the mark with this dish. The broth was rich and flavorful, with the distinct umami taste of soy sauce shining through. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the medley of fresh vegetables added a delightful crunch and vibrant colors to the bowl. Each spoonful was a symphony of flavors that left me craving more.
Aside from the fantastic food, the service at Strings 2 Ramen was exceptional. The staff members were attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft. They took the time to explain the different menu options and made helpful recommendations based on individual preferences. Their dedication to ensuring a memorable dining experience truly stood out, and it's evident that they take great pride in their establishment.
The restaurant itself had a cozy and welcoming ambiance. The minimalist yet stylish decor created a relaxed and comfortable setting, perfect for enjoying a satisfying bowl of ramen. Whether you're dining alone or with a group of friends, Strings 2 Ramen offers a warm and inviting space that enhances the overall experience.
In conclusion, Strings 2 Ramen in Chicago is a hidden gem that deserves all the accolades it receives. The Hell Sauce and Shoyu Vegetable Ramen are both standout dishes that showcase the culinary expertise of the chefs. Read moreIf you're searching for the best ramen in Chicago, look no further than Strings Ramen Shop in Chinatown. As soon as you step inside, you're welcomed with warm, genuine hospitality and surrounded by cozy Japanese decor that sets the perfect mood for an unforgettable meal. From the intimate ambiance to the friendly service, every detail enhances the overall dining experience. But the true magic happens in the bowl! I ordered Tonkotsu Ramen, and it was an absolute revelation. The creamy pork bone broth is rich, silky, and packed with layers of umami flavor that make each sip feel like comfort in a bowl. The broth alone is worth the trip, but when combined with the perfectly chewy noodles, it’s a match made in ramen heaven. The ramen comes with lava egg, which adds a velvety richness, wood ear mushroom for a delicate crunch, menma (fermented bamboo shoots) that give a subtle earthiness, scallions for a hint of freshness, and nori for that touch of the sea. You have the option to choose between pork belly or pork loin—I went with the pork belly, and it was melt-in-your-mouth tender with just the right amount of fat to balance out the creamy broth. For those who prefer a leaner cut, the pork loin would be a perfect choice. Now, here’s the pro tip: add a touch of their chili oil to the mix! The slight heat cuts through the richness of the broth and elevates the entire dish to new heights, bringing a perfect balance between creamy, spicy, and savory. It’s the kind of flavor that leaves you thinking about it long after the bowl is finished. Strings Ramen Shop truly takes ramen to another level, and it's no surprise why it's considered one of the top ramen spots in Chicago. Whether you're a seasoned ramen enthusiast or trying it for the first time, Strings Ramen is an absolute must-visit. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their...
