Cal Java has delicious coffee – I like the Vanilla Nut (or a special espresso drink) if I’m getting a cup to go, and my favorites are the Brooke Trout and Decaf Moka Java if I’m buying beans to take home. Naturally, coffee comes first. But I really wanted to give a shout out to Cal Java for how active they are active in the community. They have generously provided coffee for a number of events at my children’s elementary school, and they’ve partnered with the school on a long-term coffee-sales fundraiser. The employees in the East Avenue shop are always friendly, and Luke (the owner) is often about, greeting the regulars by name. Can't give any stars for the food didn't try it. Have good strong coffee though. I'm from out of town and they had a 50 percent off deal online. They usually take a second for shop orders to go through, but he said I could order it and grab it off the shelves. Friendly people very communicative and seemed knowledgeable.
