The atmosphere and service was grea. The place looked clean and the staff was friendly. I ordered for pick up and even with waiting the designated time, I still had to wait a little bit longer at the restaurant for the food to be ready. Not a big deal to me, but something to note - it was toward the end of the day, so it wasn't busy at all, but could've been lack of employees or something else I wasn't aware of that caused this.
I didn't really enjoy the food. I got their Tonkotsu Ramen and a friend of mine got their Curry Ramen. It was overall pretty mediocre. Didn't have much of a flavor and the noodle vs other ingredients ratio was pretty off (in favor of noodles). The noodles themselves also weren't the best, they were on the thicker side and again, just lacking flavor.
Unfortunately for me, the worse part was the meat. I didn't have the option of choosing the meat (that, or somehow I overlooked it) and turns out I don't enjoy pork belly at all. This could just be a me thing and you may enjoy it more if you did, but I didn't at all. It was squishy and mushy and poor/lacking flavoring to me in general.
You can specify the spicy level that you want your food to be. Me, being one who can't tolerate a lot of spice was uncertain about how spicy this food could get with the different levels, so I went with no spice. Looking back, adding spice may have given it more of a flavor profile.
My friend commented on the curry ramen to be mediocre as well. He did add spice to it, I'm not sure what level though.
Even with taking into consideration that the type of meat was a personal dislike, as I have no comparison for how pork belly is to taste otherwise (nor will I likely try it ever again anywhere else) the fact that overall the meal was lacking in flavor and ratio of noodles to other ingredients was off (in my opinion) then I cannot recommend this ramen place and am unsure if I would eat here again. If I do, I would opt for something else to try, but I...
Read moreBy far the best experience I've had in any noodle house. Hands down. I order from Coco's often, but there is something about being able to sit in the restaurant and having it be so fresh in front of you, that makes the taste so much better.
I tried the Fish Ramen this evevning, and I am sure I have found a new favorite! The beoth was rich, the fish and squid meat were cooked just right, and I found myself not wanting to put it down!
Dine in is an option again at Coco's, but please be curtious to those around you. The tables are wiped down often, and drinks are not served in cups at this time. (You can ask for one though)
The service is wonderful and the staff is attentive. They don't miss a beat. They also leave cute art work on your receipt.
Definitely made me a happy human. 😊
Update: I stopped going to Cocos after I watched some of their kitchen staff use dirty towels to wipe off active kitchen ware that has been used for poultry, and then use the same rags to wipe off knives and then actively cut fish and other ingredients used for meals. When you sit at the two tables closest to the counter you can see in through their kitchen window... And that was definitely something I could have gone without seeing. The same day I saw this cross contamination happen, I ended up with...
Read moreThe waitresses were nice, but would never recommend this place. Cramped, sat people right next to us when we werent at the bar. I ordered a miso beef ramen, you can pay for extra toppings, I got NO beef, and they still tried to charge me for extra beef. The wait for the food was far too long. The size of the ramen, along with the toppings that were not generous at all, made this ramen too overpeiced. The spice was actually okay, but the eggs werent properly heated in the bowl Tasted like it came fresh out the freezer. My friend got the seafood one, only 3 shrimp which he had to peel HISMELF. Only one muscle and again, skimped on the toppings. This was definitely not...
