Denny's is just predictable, the tastes you have had in the past will be exactly as you would remember, time after time. The quality of the food is decent, the preparation of an order is what can be anywhere from mediocre-passable to downright excellent. For example, I ordered the Peppercorn steak on two consecutive visits. The first time mine was cooked to order (medium-rare) and was juicy, flavorful and and very satisfying. As were the sides of bread, baked potato amd broccoli. The very next trip to Denny's netted a medium-well, dry,and flavorless, however the sides were still very good. It seems like they are understaffed at times. with one server handling most of the room load (it can get quite busy at times, especially being Chico's only 24 hour restaurant serving that selection of cusine). Waiting for refills of coffee can be a little lengthier than desired, especially when you see it right there and could easily refill your cup yourself. I know. I know, liability and all that, but still, just sayin'. Throughout and overall though, the staff remained friendly, upbeat, and courteous. I also would want to have the entree served a bit longer in time than within 3 minutes of receiving the salad I wanted to give Denny's another half star, making it 3 1/2 but couldn't figure out how to do a half. The issues of food prepared inconsistently and seeming lack of enough personnel are what made this not be 5 stars. Glad we have them though in any case. I recommend the establishment, and I'm certain a majority of customers know the Denny's experience as it...
Read moreCame around 7pm. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs and a prime rib sandwich and mozzarella sticks. I asked the server specifically if they still had chicken noodle soup left (supposed to serve it til 10pm). She said yes. So I ordered that with a salad.
She waited until I already had the salad and everyone else had their food to tell me that no, they had no chicken noodle soup left.
At that point I didn't have any options. We were driving home on a 6 hour drive with almost an hour to go. The other food had taken a good 30 or 40 minutes to come out despite the place being nearly empty. I wasn't going to make them eat then wait another 20 minutes for my food then eat before we left and I already had a $4 salad in front of me. I wouldn't have ordered a salad if I was ordering a full entree with it.
The sandwich was good. The meatballs were so burned they were inedible so my son ended up just eating the noodles.
So for a sandwich, noodles and mozzarella sticks with a side salad it was $45. What a horrible experience. Lesson learned. Dennys has gone way down hill. And they didn't start out that high on the hill to...
Read moreMy food was pretty good, minimal wait despite looking crazy busy. However every time I eat there they are out of a bunch of stuff. You'd think that by not being able to sell more product, that nobody has figured out they're losing money on sales.
This time they were out of both honey and marinara. Last time I ate there last week they didn't have mozzarella sticks, previous time before that they were out of coca cola. Its getting ridiculous and I'm sure the waiters are suffering from it with people not leaving tips due to the inconvenience.
Despite this, this is one of the few Denny's that can cook a steak right, and the wait staff goes above and beyond to make sure your order is right even despite their supply issues. Every time I eat there its a pleasure to see the faces I come to know there, and its really a shame I can't give them five stars just based on mismanagement of orders. Hopefully it'll be resolved soon and I can change...
