El Guayacan Mexican Food is, so far, the best of the bunch, if only for their salsas and chips, that very graciously are presented almost immediately. Service very good, by not one, but several ladies each time they passed by. Very constant, and with a friendly smile. As for the food ordered: Tamal and Chili Relleno, $15.99? Was told by a fuzzy, hard to please lady, that the whole thing was to her liking, which as most combinations came with the side dishes. 4.5 Stars. Super Fajitas, $21.99. Came in two plates, not necessarily the same size, plus typical corn tortillas container. Super alluded for Steak, Chicken and Shrimp plus bell peppers onions and mushrooms. Here is my caveat: order arrived too caramelized for my taste, and oily as well. The slices of beef not grilled, more like boiled to me, not tender but edible. Overcooked, in other words. The chicken kind of similar, but more tender perhaps. The shrimp were the star of the plate, generous amount and plump. Onions bell peppers in control of the space, too cooked almost mushy. 3 Stars. I am sure that other choices could be better as fajitas are definitely not their forte. Still, plenty of food to be had, good water, clean bathrooms and gracious staff. 4 Stars.
5-12-2023, 7 PM. We keep bouncing back and forth, same places more than once. Is not necessarily love for the food, just for places that merit repeat business. Tortilla Soup, $16+? Add ons on the side, cheese and mini chips. She liked it a lot, big serving. 4 Stars. House Special, $22+? Said Carne Asada-thin thin cut seriously over charred. Found out while complaining one can ask for less cooked, too late to salvage this paper thin skirt 1.5 Stars. Grilled Chicken, better cooked, a little orange colored from spices, 3 Stars. Shrimp nice and plump mixed with oily onions and mushrooms, 3.5 Stars. Steamed corn tortillas 3 Stars. Chips/Salsa on the money, generous with it! 4.5 Stars. Service extremely attentive 4.5 Stars. Water tasteless 4 Stars. Total $40+ gratuity, almost $50. House special less than ideal. 4 Stars. 7-26-2023 Service is always good. Place is clean. Salsa and Chips readily available and very good. This time two people ordered the same plate of 3 Chili’s consisting of Chili Verde, Chili Colorado and Chili Relleno plus Rice & Beans, 20+? The plate was bigger, the food ordered kind of backfired. Chili Colorado the beef was hard to the bite, which is unusual as it is supposed to be softer. Sauce acceptable. 2.5 Stars. Chili Verde with Pork better of the bunch. 4 Stars. Chili Relleno an explosion of cheese and more melted cheese, yet agreeable. 3 Stars. Rice better than the Beans this time. 3.5 Stars. Beans lacking flavor. 2.5 Stars. Corn Tortillas 4 Stars. For someone first time trying chili relleno definitely not impressed. This visit for the food...
Read moreWent for a date night with the wife on a Friday. Always heard of this restaurant, but have never been...a terrible shame on our part. Located in the Almond Orchard on Pillsbury Rd, if you drive in you'll pass it by without knowing it's there. Once inside, it's a very busy establishment with a quick and attentive staff. Chips and salsa within 1 minutes of sitting down, drinks within 2 minutes. The menu is extensive and fairly cheap, but more expensive than others. I ordered the #5 special to try a bevy of items...1 Tamale, 1 Enchilada, and 1 Taco (all chicken), refried beans and rice. My wife got the Super Fajitas (beef, chicken, and shrimp), with the usual veggies...onions, peppers, and mushrooms in a thick, sweet sauce/gravy, which was different and extremely tasty, and Her sides came on a separate plate for easy building. Everything had a distinct flavor, with nothing dry or overcooked. The veggies on both plates were crisp, not soggy. The beans were perfect, with lots of cheese. One downfall...the rice was bland, and only had taste when paired with a spoon of salsa. Overall, a wonderful dinner place...definitely worth...
Read moreThis was a great find by the fountain! We enjoyed great food and excellent service. We were there on several occassions and at various meal times, before this review, and I can say that they seem consistent with food and service quality. It is a nice open space restaurant, with indoor and outdoor sitting, their service is friendly and attentive and the food is authentic and flavorful. They have an extensive menu to suit your palate. Their portions are generous and we loved that they serve their hot and mild salsas, simultaneously, with the freshly made chips. Their salsa is chuncky and full of flavor! They have a great selection of mexican non-alcoholic drinks and a full bar for mixed drinks with a great assortment of draft and bottled beers to compliment your meal. We are so delighted with them that we added them to our regular dining rotation. Highly...
