Kona's on Nord — Restaurant in Chico

Only giving one stars because service was good, staff was friendly, and food was edible……. Other than that the sandwiches me and my friends had were bland, and felt like they were put together mindlessly. Here’s a list of problems that if worked on, could make a decent sandwich.

What’s going on with the bread. First off, bread is not even goood. Got the sourdough because the Dutch crunch was out of stock. No problem with that, but the sourdough was probably in the bottom 3 I’ve had. If it was toasted it could have been decent, but it was just room temperature. Also, THE BREAD RATIO IS CRAZY!!! I attached an image to explain, not much to be said. All you taste is bread!

The guacamole was runny and bland. Also, wasn’t told it would be $3 until the checkout. Not only would I have not gotten it if I was told of the price, but it wasn’t even worth the price at all. Chipotle guacamole is still cheaper and even that is a crazy price for guacamole. As I write this I am eating a burrito from Aca Taco and the guacamole cost a dollar.

Price. $10 for a foot long is fair for an average sandwich joint. Not for this sandwich. A Subway foot long is better so the price cannot be justified.

Could have made the sandwich at home, it’s just a whole baguette in half with a measly amount of ingredients. No special sauce, no signature ingredient, and on top of that you can’t taste the ingredients anyways. Only bread.

Those are the main criticisms I have for this place. The reason for the one star is because there is no reason to go here, when Subway and other sandwich joints exist. Just overall disappointed, won’t be back and won’t be finishing...

On this hot day I received an order as a dasher at konas. I figured I would grab a drink. Upon entering and looking at the menu. I was Immediately met with "I assume your a dasher". I responded with one word "yes". Before the word left my mouth I was told by the man behind the counter (owner?)"well you need to tell us that bud". I was then Immediately asked to confirm pick up for an order that was out of site and not yet in my possession. I don't understand where it came from as he has always been plesent in the past. Bad day maybe. He knew his demeanor was foul and tried washing the situation down by calling me "friend" and asking how my day is going. I would have asked the same had it been sincere. You would think the respect between merchant and vendor would be present but its not. I got a drink next door at Subway where I was greeted and not "assumed" to be anything but a human being.😂. Update: I take back the possibility that this was just a bad day. Read the reviews where he attacks any and everyone that gives criticism... I'm just waiting for mine now lol. Man that's a bad look. I’m shocked with the 4.5 average rating and now I’m wondering if they bought fake reviews?? Nothing special about this place and it’s in a really rough part of town. Food is over priced. The owner is this really pushy guy and he is not polite at all but the other workers in the shop are very nice! To prove my point, go read some of the other 1 star reviews for this place and you’ll see for yourself how worked up the owner gets when someone leaves a bad review!! Geez!! Someone is allowed to say they objectively don’t like your sandwiches. People are allowed to have different opinions than you. Imagine having so much time on your hands that you write an entire essay replying to someones review because you’re so offended that they objectively didn’t like your food.
