Los Portales Mexican Grill - Chino — Restaurant in Chino

My friend and I came here to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious, but the service was less than desirable. To begin with, my friend and I were catching up before ordering so it was a bit beofre we ordered. The waitress asked but were not ready. When we were ready to order I asked for a refill of my drink. She was ready to take the cup, but it was watered down so I asked for a new one. The waitress rolled her eyes and walked away. I got the drink and we placed our order. I ordered per usual, I am a frequent customer and ordered the same order and asked to put potatoes in my burrito. The waitress quickly responded that they cannot put potatoes in the burrito. I mentioned to her I always get potatoes in my burrito. She went and asked and I did get the potatoes in the burrito. The food was fine, but... we ordered guacamole and asked for a new basket of chips. They never came. We asked 1 more time for the chips, never got them. We waited 35 mins for the check she never once came back. When she finally did come back, I asked for a soda to go, we purchased one but according to her she had to either charge me for another drink, or take a cup for my water down drink that I had. I asked again she reiterated what she said, either she charges me for a new one, or get a cup and put my water down drink in it. Mind you my friend also ordered a drink and did not get offered 1 refill. Then we get the check and we were charged $5.25 for the potatoes to be added to the burrito. I get this all the time, and never get charged $5.25. At this point I asked for the manager again I got the eyeroll again. I waited a while nobody came. Finally I saw the owner and I asked her to help me. I told her my experience and she just looked at me did not validate my concerns. I asked about the potatoes that were over charged she admitted that the waitress had charged incorrectly, so I asked for it to be adjusted. She said nothing, but she did say she didn't charge for the soda I already paid once for, I guess as if today even you buy in the restaurant and you would like to take it home there is a charge for an additional one. I have come here many, many, times, food is consistently good, never had problems with the staff before but I will say I left very unsatisfied that not only were my concerns not validated or acknowledged I left feeling defeated. We were there celebrating my birthday and the owner new that, never said a word about adjust the cost of the potatoes, or apologized for her server, being rude and oblivious to her customers concerns or time rather. We were there probably 90 mins, 30 of which were waiting the chips we asked 3 times for to go with the guacamole we ordered and our check. It would have been nice to feel like the customer matters. We chose this establishment to celebrate a special day and spend our money. No need to be rude and...

We have visited twice. The first time we ordered take out. What we did notice immediately when we walked in to pick up the food was the lack of urgency. Lots of workers walked by us, nobody cared to acknowledge us. I had to finally wave someone down to ask for our to go order. Only to find our order was slightly wrong, back into the restaurant to have it fixed. The food was good enough and we decided we would eventually try it again. Fast forward to our second visit. We made it a point to arrive before 5 to beat the dinner crowd. We were seated immediately and waited 10 mins for a server to ask if we wanted drinks or apps. We ordered drinks and the server returned about 15 mins later to take our food order. Food came out and we didn't have utensils. The server put the food down and walked away. We had to wave another worker there for utensils and instead of her getting the utensils so we can eat, she waited until she saw our server to tell her to get them. Meanwhile our food is sitting there. The server left to the back and came back 7 mins later with 2 plastic forks and ONE napkin. Are you kidding me?? We were told the forks were being washed. Seriously, on a Friday, you guys are that unprepared? I asked for more napkins with a smile. We ate our food and not ONCE did our server or manager come by to ask if we'd like or needed anything else. We got our bill after we asked for it and my husband paid. He left zero dollars for a tip. Mind you, my husband is a VERY good tipper. Always tips 20.00+ dollars because we feel servers work hard. But not this time, no way. There are too many Mexican restaurants with excellent service to ever consider returning to Los Portales, Chino. Look at all the one star reviews on this restaurant and believe what they are saying. Up your service game...

I can honestly say this is the WORST Mexican restaurant I’ve been to. Shoot, it may very well be the worst restaurant I’ve been to, period! They serve TERRIBLE rolled tacos! The freakin things are way too big, and not rolled correctly. Last time I went. I ordered the shredded beef variety. What I got was birria taquito’s. When I asked the girll who had served me, is this” birria?” She lied to me. She asked me if I was happy with them, and I lied to her back in letting her know that I good. . Oh, you should expect to get a tiny bit of guacamole with your rolled tacos as well. Just right now I ordered Mozzarella Sticks. What I got were some tiny cheese sticks that appeared to come straight out the frozen food section. To make matters worse. They tried to pass a packet of ketchup off for marinara sauce. Man, I had only ordered the Mozzarella Sticks bc every time I’ve ordered Mexican food I’ve been disappointed. Which brings me to their chili con carne. I’ve ordered this 2 times. Each time a got a tiny portion of chicken served with a lot of chile verde.I really don’t understand how they be packing them in. Bc, in my view, this place...
