Casa De Otay – The Casa — Restaurant in Chula Vista

I thought their container location in Metro Park was "just ok", but I love the new indoor location they just opened a couple blocks away at the corner of Metro & Artisan. Nice menu, nice atmosphere, and plenty of seating. I just wish they would add some organic coffee to their menu - at least drip and/or americano in regular and decaf. Organic coffee demand is increasing as more people learn about the health impacts of coffee pesticides, but most coffee shops are still missing the boat. If the shop owners are reading this, consider adding a very basic organic coffee offering, add it to your menu, signage, and advertising, give people a choice, and see how well it does. I'm not saying it will become a top seller, but I think enough people would appreciate it. That alone would be a big differentiator for your shop, as you'd be one of the only coffee shops in the area offering organic coffee. I visited your establishment on Saturday, 06/14/2025, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. From the moment I began placing my order, the attitude of the young woman behind the counter noticeably changed. Both my wife and I felt that she was rude, dismissive, and very short with us. I can’t help but feel that the treatment we received may have been due to the shirt I was wearing, which expressed a political belief. If that’s the case, it’s extremely disheartening. No one should be treated differently based on their personal beliefs or religion. To add to the frustration, I reached out via social media that same day to share my concerns, but as of today, I still haven’t received a response. It’s a shame, because the coffee was delicious. This review is very long over due! I’ve been coming to casa for the last two years. Wether it be the casita or the big casa. The baristas are the best, I have my favorites but they are all very attentive and welcoming. The atmosphere is a very welcoming environment. I love the music they play.

Coffee wise, I get the vanilla bourbon with oat milk. It’s just the right amount of sweetness for me. It’s so close to home and I’m truly so thankful to have such a nice space near me! I also get the empanadas that they have onsite. My go to is the beef one but I recently tried the chicken empanada and I’ve found my new favorite!
