Let me start off by saying that I love Bb.q Chicken. We have been eating at and ordering from the National City location for years now. However, my experience ordering food from this location (it was my first and will for sure be my last) was pretty bad, and I mean baaaaaaaaddd. I understand that when you order food it's not going to look exactly like the menu but, when we go to the National City location it is pretty picture perfect.

The exact description of the Cheesling wings is: "Dusted in a rich medley of sweet cheeses. Grab extra napkins." With the amount of cheese on my wings I would be lucky if there was a crumb or two left on my plate after picking up a wing. The Golden Garlic, WORSE. They are supposed to have "a heavy shake of our homemade garlic powder." Mine were bare, no seasoning at all. And the rice cake in the So Ddeok So Ddeok was so undercooked the edges were crunchy.

To say that this was a bad experience is an understatement. If you want good food make the drive to the National City and save yourself from the disappointment of the ill prepared food here.

Sorry I didn't post a picture of the So Ddeok So Ddeok, I didn't have the heart to dig it out of the trash...

Second time here. Service with a smile and a warm welcome! Love the Honey Garlic Chicken, Coleslaw and Sweet Potato Fries. Third time here (12/9/24):

Tonight, we had the Honey BBQ Chicken Wings and Gangnam Style Chicken Wings. The Honey Wings were delectably sweet. The Gangnam Wings tasted like the Galbi flavor. The coleslaw was a wee bit watery. For my onion rings, I wanted Ranch Sauce, but they wanted to charge me for it. Why couldn’t I just get it substituted? Bah! If they just gave me the sauce, I would have given them 5 stars. 8-10-25 Decent service. Even after having to repeat myself three times to the first guy that I wanted a side of onion rings, the Galbi Chicken and Honey Garlic Chicken were delish! Coleslaw was a little too wet for me, but the flavor was good. Onion rings flower thick and crispy...

We have eaten BBQ Chicken at the National City location and have been blown away every time. Delicious, crispy, flavorful, and prompt. Honestly, so disappointed by this location. We ordered 3x 8 count pieces of chicken, the sausage with fish cake, rice and the pickled ginger. Two of our chicken flavors we requested were with dry seasoning options. One had almost no seasoning at all and the second didn't have any. We double checked our order just to make sure we didn't make a mistake and sure enough, we ordered what we wanted and the production of this food was so disappointing. The third chicken flavor was with a sauce and the chicken was fully soggy, not crispy. The fish cake we ordered was not cooked thoroughly, so it was was hard and gummy and we didn't receive our ginger. First time ordering here and sad to say, it will be our last.

Customer service online was...

Been wanting to try this spot and finally got to last night. While the staff who took my order was very helpful and nice, I didn’t expect the almost 40 min wait for a take out I wish I was warned and I could have walked around the area but didn’t. I can get past that but still…ordered multiple items from the menu and have mixed feelings..kimchi fried rice was good, Caribbean spice bowl is ok…gangjeong chicken was good…love the crisp and the most of all golden original fried chicken is so so, it was bland didn’t really have much taste to it not sure. And the worst of all my son got sick the next morning and threw up the chicken (golden chicken wasn’t all he ate) so that was unexpected he had to stay home and miss school.

This is our second time having bb.q Chicken CV so it’s time for a review. Hands down one of the top Korean chicken places in San Diego. It’s incredibly convenient having this establishment in the South Bay without the headache of driving out to Convoy. We got our order for takeout and it was still bomb by the time we got home and started grubbin’. Now for the wings. I mean waaaangs. We tried the Gangnam Style, Galbi, and Gangjeong. Ahhh-mazing. The crunch is insane, the balance of flavors hits with just the right amount of heat, and the meat is juicy and tender. Solid waaangs. The kimchi fried rice was the best we’ve ever had. Can’t wait to return a third time and try another flavor profile. Highly recommended!!
