L&L Hawaiian Barbecue — Restaurant in Chula Vista

Not sure if all L&Ls taste the same, so I'm going to try another location. I'm eating fish these days (trying for no red meat or game... just for a season guys)so I didn't sample my family's food.

My husband got the BBQ short ribs combo, my son ordered the beef bowl, and I of course asked, fish pls with vegetables.. I didn't see it on the menu outside of a seafood order but they said they would accommodate me. Lord, and did they. They gave me 3 fish fillets! The veggies were a side dish.

My son gobbled his beef bowl down in zero flat, said it was amazing. He still had room.... So I gave him some of my fish. My husband eyeballed my fish, so I gave him some, too. Then he wanted more of the fish. Lol. Yes, We loved the hot, steaming fish.😍

The veggies could have used some seasoning, but hey, it's healthy. And who doesn't like Hawaiian macaroni salad? We brought whatever leftovers home. The meal came with Hawaiian bread. I wish the Hawaiian bread came warmed.

The passion fruit canned juice I bought was delicious, but it went down too quickly. Thankfully, I had bottled water in my purse!

We stopped in here to grab lunch quickly on a Sunday afternoon. There were several people waiting on their order already when we arrived around 1pm so we would have been a little better off ordering ahead of time but only ended up waiting about 15 minutes for our food.

We ordered lumpia, the garlic shrimp plate and the mixed BBQ plate. Both came with white rice and macaroni salad but we swapped out the rice for fries with one of the dishes for an extra $1.

My favorites by far are the garlic shrimp and the mac salad! There were about a dozen pieces of shrimp in the regular sized order. The mixed BBQ plate came with two pieces of chicken thigh, two pieces of beef and one rib piece. The lumpia order comes with four pieces.

There was plenty of food for the two of us and we had leftovers as well. I’ve been here several times but it’s been a couple years since I’ve visited and everything tasted just the same.

This place is always a hit and I look forward to...

Food was tasty but catering was a mess. They delivered the food 30 minutes early so it was cold when it was time to serve. The girl who delivered it parked so far away from the building when there was a clear parking lot for her to park in right next to where the food was to go. The most annoying part was we had to carry the hot trays of food and I actually burned myself, she should have carried the trays as it's part of her job! I don't mind helping but she didn't even try or offer, just handed us the hot trays. And they only gave us about 15 sauces for 50 people. Also they provided no napkins or forks like they said they would over the phone. I did not even tip her for the poor service.

I will say they quoted us the wrong price and at least honored their mistake and gave us the price they quoted us, so two stars for that and good food but I probably will not get catering from this...
