Chula Vista Community Park — Attraction in Chula Vista

On Sunday 11/03/19 I attended Chulafest. At the Chula Vista community park, which is a very beautiful park, near a few strip malls in a very nice area. This event was free and open to the public, it was a good community affair. With a variety of of different types of dancing, even a Malaysian dance group, with colorful traditional outfits, these groups swayed to the sounds of the Pacific Islands. School dance groups, that did organized new steps that had the crowd up and screaming. and few organizations that show cased some local talents, with instructional groups that showed the crowd how to do various dance moves, There were a few local bands, that sang and danced, to entertain the crowd. There were four bands, and two a old school bands. The last one stepped out with royal blue and white matching outfits that had us all up on our feet to yesterday’s funky sounds. Plenty of food vendors.... it’s was like the old song by Lighter shade of Brown, “ Chilling in Park on a Sunday afternoon.” So whether you’re young or old, families or that someone special, everyone enjoyed them selves, chilling in lawn chairs or on their feet dancing. We went from Mission Valley to this park and we really got very disappointed, the park was very dirty and old, all rusty with only slides and swings are missing. We have just moved to San Diego so we are discovering places for our children, this park has a lot of great reviews but it’s really not that good, I’m not sure if Chula Vista doesn’t have good playgrounds and maybe this is better but for me it was the worst park I’ve been, and so far we have not found a place of entertainment that is to our liking. This is in regard to the tennis courts alone: Tried going to use one of the 12 tennis courts but they are not open to the community of Chula Vista. They are for private use only because no one will assume the liability, school or district, told to us by a private instructor Fernando, not sure if he’s also responsible for policing this policy as he was only using 2 courts. Please don’t waste your time coming here. Very disappointed as there are so many courts...
