Lucky Irish Beer Garden — Restaurant in Chula Vista

Veey simple venuen but an excellent beer selection, and it so great to finally have a taproom in Bonita! The bar is just a nook built into a wall with about 20 taps, and a short bar-top with room for about 6 bar stools. The bar shares a space with the Blue Luna Cafe... the bar opens after the cafe closes, so there's a sitting area that's an open room with little decorations... it reminds me of a small conference room. But there are tables, chairs, and booths; and they have 3 large-screen TVs so it's a good place to have a beer and watch local sports. I hadn't had any of their beers before, and I go to a lot of local breweries and taprooms! They had 3 good IPAs, 2 of which were collaborations of local breweries and one was from a local brewery that recently closed - GOAL. Brewing - too bad as their IPA was really good! You can order food - I had a ribeye burger that was excellent, but I think the cafe runs the kitchen. So you get and pay for the beers at the bar, and then order & pay for food with a different waitress. It seems like the Lucky Irish model is a pretty good one - they rent shared space and just have a small nook for their operations... so they probably have minimal overhead. I really hope they make it as Bonita needs a taproom. Oh yeah, and they serve wine, so my wife can have that when the two of us walk over. I noticed this new place a few times while driving down Bonita Rd. It seemed to pop up overnight and I decided to eat there with a friend of mine. I didn't know, but they were still doing a soft opening. The burgers were on point, very, very good. Their beer selection is also very good; most if not all of the selection is from Mexico and while I am a craft beer guy I never had a wide selection of craft beer from Mexico. My buddy talked with the bartender about their wine selection (also from Mexico) and he said they had a good selection. I would recommend this place and I look forward to coming back and seeing...
